A One Night Stand

Part 9 : Truck

Kelly was definitely confused as to why Stella was acting like that and so he turned to his mother.

And he understood that there was something going on.

"Mom, so are you going to tell me?" He said waiting on his mother to open her mouth.

She took a deep breath in and then they both sat on the couch.

"Look Kelly don't take this the wrong way, i just had a conversation with Stella when you were in the hospital about Diego. To me it looked weird that out of the blue she would say it's your kid. Especially when we're there!"

"So what exactly did you say mom?"

"I asked her to do a paternity test"

"What? Why? You had no right, I expected something this low from Benny but you" he paused "that's unbelievable".

"Listen i'm sorry but you're my baby boy no matter what. I have to look out for you"

"I think I'm grown enough to look out for myself. This is just messed up to ask her that when you clearly stated how that boy looked like me".

"So now I'm going to be wrong for wanting to be a hundred percent sure? How do you know she is not lying, after that long she comes and suddenly she agrees that this kid is yours" she said trying to prove her point "this kid may look like you but i'm sure there's a bunch of kids out there who do too. So how can you be sure she's not lying?".

"You know what I won't even argue with you on that mom. You spend the whole day with him and yet here you are with this foolishness". He said disappointed.

"It's not foolishness, you can't just believe this woman out of nowhere. Plus she was a drug addict, who knows what she did for those drugs. That boy could be anyone's baby" she insisted.

"You don't even know her, so how are you going to judge her on the fact that she was using? It's so crazy how you are such an hypocrite"

And Kelly didn't have the time to finish his sentence, his mother slapped him.

"How dare you talk to me that way for a woman you barely know?"

"She's the mother of my child, so the one little thing I want is for you to respect her for what she is. And you know what if you won't be able to accept my kid then I don't want you near him either".

With those last words Kelly took his car keys and left. Yet he didn't know where to go, and then came to his mind Stella. They were suppose to go out tonight, but maybe the whole situation with his mom messed everything up.

Even with this in mind he decided to go to her aunt's house anyways to get her. Pamela was the one opening to him.

"Good evening Pamela".

"Severide!" Pamela said surprised. "You want me to call Stella for you?".

"Yes please if that's ok".

And so he waited outside for her. He needed to clear things up. She came out and they sat on the front porch.

"So!" She started saying waiting for him to explain what he was doing there.

"I know you must be pissed, and I truly have no words to apologize correctly to you. I didn't know what my mom and you talked about" he then took her hands "I'm sorry Stella, I want you to know that I never doubted you. My mom was out of place to ask you for a paternity test".

"She was! I understand it from the angle of being a mother Kelly but still it hurts to see that someone doesn't trust you. It's like once I told her i was an addict, my word became instantly untrustworthy" she explained.
