Lauren's POV
Lauren stood in middle of the mess of her house before she heard loud knocks, hearing engines roar and stopping. She went over to the door opening it for the police getting greeted, as her eyes glanced back towards the flipped over furniture, knocked down pictures which had glass scattered, and decor were also down, holes were in the wall as some were just small cracks. The few police officers walked in as others stayed outside to view the tracks in the driveway which was made by a different car, due to the tires' marks. Her emerald eyes were analyzing the police officers as they placed gloves over their hands picking up certain objects that were either broken or damaged. Their eyes glanced over the material that made the object, their hands caressed over the cracks. "Well now, I see that the person that done this is wise, because they took their shoes off." A police officer said making Lauren jump slightly from the interrupted silence by the guy's strong and firm voice that was deep. His hair was strawberry blonde and his eyes were hazel. His jawline fitted his masculine features. The male was referring to the dirt that was shook off at the mat of the front door, then to the footprints that followed up but stopped. He growled sighing, "This won't be easy, I can already tell. Ms. Jauregui, do you have any idea of who would attempt this?" He asked after he analyzed the medium sized foot print. The police officer looked up at her.
Lauren swallowed, clearing her throat before shaking her head. "I don't have an idea, I don't know anyone who would do this, or would be smart enough too." She added on, as her eyes met the officer's concerned eyes for her. It was obvious he was worried about her, he stood up from crouching for so long. "Don't give me that worried face." She bitterly stated staring at the man.
The male sighed deeply before nodding. "I- We would like to continue examining this house, and you have no other choice for now. Do you have a place to stay at while we do this? It'll only take up to around four days, or I hope." He added as he looked at her emerald eyes that seemed to mesmerized him. Her eyes disconnected from his, it was obvious she was thinking and taking in all of his words. She knew, she shouldn't be stubborn at a moment like this, so she shook her head up and down before heading towards the bedroom where a police officer was. Surprisingly, the younger girl was still asleep in the bed, curled up in the blankets that provided warmth for her. Lauren smiled slightly before frowning knowing she would have to try and explain this whenever Camila woke up, which she despised to even think about. Lauren's arms slowly unwrapped Camila's tan body from the blankets, lifting her up into hers before walking off. She had a gentle and strong touch to her, as she went towards the front door. "Good bye, officer. Please take care of my house, and if anything is broke and you find out who did this. Don't tell me, because I'll be breaking their body." She stated, her voice soft and quiet not wanting to awake the girl laying her arms. She heard the officer mumble under his breath before he said goodbye.
Lauren lie Camila in the passenger seat gently before getting into the driver seat, turning the engine on. It roared out before she started driving down the road, she took a moment to decide whether to go to her family's or Camila's. She deeply knew that she would prefer to go to Camila's, Sinhu and Alejandro treated her like family even after everything that had happened between the two. Sofia always played games with her as well. At home, it was often war. Chris wasn't there anymore, Taylor often worked while going to school leaving her not there until near midnight which she would be asleep. She knew, mom and dad would be asleep as well, or arguing. The two were different in so many ways, that Lauren didn't understand how they could've even found each other. A light sigh escaped her finding herself stopping at a red light giving her more time to argue with herself. She wanted Camila to be happy, she wanted herself to be happy as well. The emerald eyed girl inhaled and exhale tapping on the leather steering wheel that was in front of her, her thoughts overcoming her feelings before she finally decided to go to Camila's family house. It'd be best for the both of them. The glowing red light turned green similar to her eyes before she started driving once again, the skies were dark and clear, the stars not shining well due to the overwhelming light from the full moon that was out making the sky look brighter than usual. She slowly pulled into the familiar driveway of the Cabello's house. She got out of the matte black car, heading to the other side wishing that Camila would wake up, so she didn't have to carry her everywhere. She lifted the light weight girl out of the passenger seat, before closing the door with her BOOTY. (ahaha) She walked up the steps of the house before ringing the doorbell. In matter of seconds, a worried mother was at the door with a crying father behind her looking over her shoulder at the two. A slight smile cracked on Alejandro face before Sinhu opened the door quickly, "Lauren!" She exclaimed but not loudly seeing that her daughter was asleep in her arms. "Go ahead and take her to her room." Lauren nodded to the worried mother's words as she did so. She laid the female down onto the white bed, covering her up like she did the last time seeing Camila grasp the sheets while she was asleep. Lauren headed back towards the living room, closing Camila's bedroom door. She saw Sinhu and Alejandro both looking at her, examining her outfit which was plain since she changed at her house. She worn a long sleeve shirt that was dark blue, and joggers that were black.
"Lauren, I would like to say thank you for taking care of my daughter while we couldn't-" Sinhu said, her words getting cut off by Lauren.
"Mrs. Cabello, it's not a problem. You don't have to thank me for taking care of her. She's beautiful and sweet, I wouldn't want her getting hurt, now would I? She's my friend after all." She asked with a smile seeing Alejandro nearly spitting his coffee out at her words. His laughter came after words, Sinhu stared blankly at Alejandro raising her eyebrow. "I- Uh. Okay..." Lauren was confused why he would laugh.
Alejandro smirked before staring at Lauren changing his eyes towards the hall. "Oh, I'm so very sorry. It's just, I found those words quite funny. Did you, perhaps, stay over?" He asked, his words were soft. He was obviously getting somewhere with his words. "I heard some things in the evening. I'm just pondering." Sinhu was obviously too innocent and loving to understand what Alejandro was saying, his eyes were glaring Lauren down. "Hehehe, we're having a small talk after this. Alright, Laur?" He more of demanded than asked.
Lauren nodded looking away, her cheeks having a light pink blush realizing what he was talking about before hearing Sinhu speak up. "I'm not going to ask what that's all about because it's between you two, but still. Lauren, I know the history between you guys. The fact that you've looked over that is amazing. You have a great personality, though I have a question. I feel as if you won't be up to this, but we would like for you to attend a family gathering. Considering that Camila is the eldest, she needs a date, and I think having a friend of hers who cares deeply for her is the best choice. I think, Alejandro and I could both agree onto this decision. I am not forcing this upon you, it's just it'll give you two more time to talk, and it'll be a safe environment. No fights, no butt holes, or anything like that. You don't even have to dress up, it's a small family dinner." A smile was plastered onto her face looking over at Lauren before crossing her legs, her eyes glancing over the place before closing. Secretly praying that Lauren would accept.
Lauren felt overwhelmed, she thought that she would be the last person to be asked. She took in the words of the older female nodding. "I'd love to. It'll be a great night, and I would love to have a night with your daughter. Camila and I need to have some talk time. The party was quite... Overwhelming. As you probably know since you seem to, um. Yeah." Lauren chuckled not knowing how to explain it before scratching the back of her head embarrassed.
Alejandro started laughing again before getting out of his chair heading towards Lauren. His hands softly landed onto her shoulders, his brown eyes sparkled. "Lauren, I trust you with my daughter, and personally I'd like to say that I think you're a great choice for this. I'm glad that you accepted because the family needs to get to know you since Matthew is gone for the week. I actually prefer you over that man. He's just- I don't know what's his problem. He's just that way that I hate. It's like he looks down on people, which I dislike. Heh, by the way, I think we need to talk about. You know what." Alejandro smiled at her, "Let's speak about this in the kitchen. You need food right, or are you still full from your meal when you were here?" He asked before chuckling leading them to the kitchen where Sinhu couldn't hear the conversation. "Laur, haha. Look, I'm messing with you. I know about you and Camila. I don't care about the fact that Camila is with Matthew, you wanna know why? That man is pure jerk. You though. You're talented, beautiful, and amazing. I want you to know that I support you two, one hundred percent. Lauren, I really enjoy you here, and I heard on the radio about your house being broke in and all. I'd enjoy it if you stayed here for the couple of days. You've always been here for Camila. You stood up for my daughter like no one else would. Yes, Camila called me telling us that you whooped his butt, and the fact that you did makes me love you even more than Matthew." He chuckled as he looked at Lauren's green eyes that were tearing up, she hugged him out of the blue. Her arms tightened around his waist.
"Thank you.... so much, I don't know what to say." Lauren's raspy voice spoke up, her arms tightened around him. "You're such an amazing dad to Camila, and such a good support system to me. Thank you.."
Alejandro nodded, he hugged her back tighter. "Don't ever say thank you to me, I have to much to be grateful for from you." He replied.
A/N: I love you all.
