News flash! News flash! It appeared on the TV as loud as fireworks on the 4th of July that woke up the entire town. The apocalypse was arriving and it was taking out anything that planned on standing in its path. Stores all around the country were sent into straight panic as people rampaged in to take everything off the shelves, ranging from gallons of water to granola bars. Wood for boarding up houses became scarce as hardware stores became more empty as the seconds passed. As citizens were running out of money they were running out of any cares of paying for what they were taking as well. This became just like any movie that you see. People fighting and trampling over each other, ripping everything they could out of each others hands.
Her neighbors house was boarded up tight from the day she moved in so she spent her remaining money on what really mattered in the long run. Keeping herself and her dog alive. Who knew what was about to happen and she wanted to have more than one plan for when it all turned to pure chaotic shit. Plan A: Get out of her house and get next door. Put the dog in a secure location where nothing and no one could hurt him and get as many supplies out of the house as possible. Wait for the chaos to almost begin and head to the armory down the street. Weapons are key to getting through this, and no one would think to go there because it hasn't been open in decades. But she knew that there was still swords, and artillery galore inside. Plan B: Get them both in the car and get out. Her car was decked out with all the necessary equipment needed to get through this and get somewhere else. With the whole world collapsing on itself she wasn't sure where they would end up but it was better than staying there.
She packed all her belongings as quickly as she moved in. The dog was prepared with an army style heavy duty harness and a chip to find his location should they ever be separated. They both ate dinner watching the news and preparing for what was supposed to go down the next day. Falling asleep for the dog was easy, which was no surprise. She feels like he had an idea of what was about to happen, but probably not to the extent. She gently placed her headphones on her ears blasting the music to calm her down enough to sleep.
3am. BOOM! This was the day that everyone was dreading. Nothing was the same now that it was the apocalypse. Crying, screaming, the smell of burning flesh was overwhelming her body. Run and run fast. Everywhere was fire. Bright crimson red and burning orange exploding from buildings. She was just sanding in the middle watching the world die. Water takes control in the form of a tsunami flooding the fire, sweeping away cars and houses all around her. She climbs into a large willow tree, grasping onto branches like a monkey with her dog climbing quickly behind. The fire is strangled until it simmers down to smoke. What seemed like hours was blinded by adrenaline because it happened in minutes.
She climbed down cautiously from the tree, helping her dog jump down. She turns in circles faster and faster until she becomes dizzy and topples over. She sees nothing. She sees no one. Growing more confused on how the storm never touched her. She now realizes that she is an immortal soul.
