Zoe's P.O.V

I waited in the waiting room with Ashley. Kellina had her practical exam today so she couldn't come with me. I knew if she could change her exam date she would but I told her to go. I was nervous. I thought after four years I'd be over this brain injury stuff. I've been doing so well since the last relapse so I couldn't figure out why it would suddenly get bad again.

"You okay?"

"Yeah I just don't want bad news," I sighed.

"I'm sure everything will be okay,"

"I hope so,"

"Zoe Zanderson?" The doctor called. I stood up and followed him into his room.

"How are you today?"

"I'm good and you?"

"I'm good so I have your brain scan results here,"

"And?" I asked, nervously rubbing my hands together.

"There's good news and slightly bad news,"

"B-bad news?" I asked, feeling my heart drop.

"The bad news at this stage it's, it's not something that is going to effect your day to day activity,"

"What's wrong?"

"You said you had been travelling the past year?"

"Yeah we went all over Europe,"

"We think that the constant flying has caused swelling of your brain where you had the bleed after your car accident,"

"Is everything okay is anything going to happen?"

"Apart from the swelling your brain activity is normal, there's no signs of bleeding anywhere no tumours nothing,"

"So what do I do for the swelling?"

"Because its only a mild case of swelling I'm going to put you on a course of medication for two weeks and we will do a follow up scan to make sure the swelling has gone down, if it hasn't there may be another factor causing the swelling that we haven't noticed,"

"I thought after four years flying would be okay?"

"Usually it is which is why we're confused about the swelling. But because you flew for a whole year on long flights we think that's what's caused it because of the duration and amount of flying. I think if it was a small trip or limited plane time your brain would've been alright,"

"Is there anything I shouldn't do before the next scan?" I asked as he printed out my script.

"Try not to do any vigorous activity or anything to stress yourself out. I've made your next CT scan for two weeks from today and we will see if our predictions are correct,"

"Thank you," I smiled.

"Take care Zoe," he smiled. I walked out of the room and smiled sadly at Ashley.

"What's the verdict?"

"Apparently there's swelling in my brain again so he's put me on medication but he thinks it's because of the flying so he said it shouldn't be serious but they want to do another scan in a couple weeks to make sure,"

"I'm so sorry," Ashley sighed, wrapping her arms around me.

"It's okay I'm sure everything will be okay," I reassured.

I waited at home for Kellina to get back from her exam. I rolled the tube of medication around in the table. I hated not knowing if this swelling was bleeding again or if it was just the flying. I just I didn't want to stress myself out about it but I knew Kellina was going to stress.
