Chapter One
Jack Frost sat impatiently in the globe room of North's cheerful workshop. His hands fidgeted in his lap as he sighed, gazing at his curved staff and itching to bring a new snow front to northern Canada. Also in the room stood the four other guardians. The Elders, as Jack liked to call them by. 'Tooth, are those some gray feathers I see?' He would often tease, being the Guardian of Fun.
Tooth (The Tooth Fairy) flitted around the room, her feathers passing by in a blur of flustered colors as she listed orders to her humming birds (Humming-Helpers, they preferred).
Sandy (Sandman), paced by the globe, signs forming and deforming from sand flashing above his head a mile a minute. Apparently, he was trying -and failing- to deliver a message to North (Santa Clause). Judging by North's furrowed eyebrows and pursed lips, he didn't understand Sandy's symbols any more than Jack. And lastly (yet most annoyingly), in the corner of the room, a large and furry kangaroo, eh-hem, bunny, stood glaring at Jack. The Easter Bunny tapped his elongated paw on the floor irritably, and grumbled something under his breath.
'Probably something about why, when he woke up, he was frozen to the floor.' Jack thought smugly.
"Oi, is there a specific reason you called us all here, mate?" Bunny scowled over at North, talking in his thick Australia accent. The look on Bunny's face made it obvious that he'd rather be down underground with his eggs.
North nodded grimly in reply, his face pale. His Russian accent showed as he spoke, "Man in Moon."
Instantly, silence blanketed the room. The sound of Tooth's beating wings and her orders died, as did Bunny's tapping and Jack's usual smirk of mischief. The guardians looked to North, their eyebrows raised and frozen in their current positions.
"What did Manny say?" Tooth finally broke the silence, her voice sounding almost as clear and charming as cristals.
"Pitch is back. And this time, it will take more than all of us combined." The rounded and normally jolly man concluded, his expression locked in pure uneasiness. "It is up to you, Jack."
Jack's eyes widen. "M-me? No way! are you insane!?" He motioned his hand to the large globe. "You expect me alone to protect all those children!?"
Tooth fluttered over to him, gently resting a hand on his shoulder. "Jack, stay calm. Getting upset won't help." She says softly, her words washing over him and calming his nerves.
"No, Jack! Not alone! In three separate places you will find three people who will assist us garudians. All of us together- we are strong." North nodded, his crystal blue eyes showing confidence.
Jack felt himself relax. Only then did he notice a thin coating of frost had formed at his feet. He watched it retreat, almost melting away. Jack stayed silent for a good few moments before nodding. "Alright, tell me what I need to do."
North clapped his hand on the white haired boy's shoulder. "Three locations. Corona, Berk, and DunBroch."
Jack took his staff that leaned on the cold wall, and pursed his lips. He simply swept his hand towards the window, blowing it wide open.
And Jack Frost flew into the freezing winter's night.
