Sylver woke up to Eyelash's beautiful, unbandaged face staring down at her with that pretty white eye of hers, and only when Sylver looked at the spot where her other eye should've been did she remember what Eyelash had just done and the stupid grin she must've worn all along was wiped away.
"You're awake again? So fast? Must be because of... oh, you are getting prettier and prettier every second!", Eyelash chimed, and the rustling leaves made her mouth twitch, but Sylver forced herself to sit up, making Eyelash move back a bit.
Only now did Sylver really take in her surroundings and the situation she was in. She was back in a medical bed, but still in the training area. The rest of the room was clean of people except for some bloodstains from the fight.
"Where is your eye?", Sylver asked. Smart questions first, as always, no need to find out if her roommate had really just killed people infront of Sylver, noooo.
Eyelash smiled and whispered, "You didn't notice it earlier? I will show you if you promise to not scream, but first of all I want to ask... what do you think of my eyesocket? Do you think it was a good solution to leave it like this, or would something else have been... better?"
This was not an easy question to answer, seeing how totally mad this woman was, but Sylver still felt obligated to answer, as she did not want to die, "I wouldn't really know what else to do with it to be honest... sewing it shut would've looked really dark and would've distracted from your beautiful features too much I think, and leaving it empty would've also looked more scary than anything else... so it was a good choice..."
Her one functional eye lit up at that and she purred, "I had hoped you would like it! A glass eye wouldn't have given my blindness away as obviously of course, but being thought of as a blind girl also has its benefits, as being underestimated can already win a battle before it started! And, as you may have noticed when I got jumped while wearing my bandages, I really love deceptions! And decapitations as well, but sadly these reinforced bandages couldn't do quite that job for me..."
Wow.
"Uhm, so...", Sylver asked to just get rid of the killing topics, "Where is the eye now? You obviously use your eyes to see something, even if I still don't know what exactly, but now you took away one of them even though your powers are linked to them if I understand correctly?"
Instead of giving a direct answer she said, "Give me your hand. And no worries, I will not break your hand or wrist or anything. So far you almost only gave me reasons to enjoy your company, and even if that changes, you are so cute that I'd only hurt you if you specifically attacked me or if the job requires it!"
That did not reassure Sylver in the slightest, but she reached forwards with her right hand anyways, and Eyelash took it with her scarred hand.
And she immediately felt it. And it all made sense. Not the reasoning behind it, not at all, but the situation itself. But Sylver had to see it as well, so she turned the hand around, and from the middle of Eyelash's palm her second eye was blinking at her.
"I am all about searching. Seeing. Finding. And with my eyes in my hands I get mobility like ever before! I can look into two completely different directions this way! During my little fight I could dodge something being thrown at me from behind! Do you see?", Eyelash explained even before Sylver could utter a single word of shock, disbelief or awe.
"It was a really fucking difficult procedure, bringing all of the components together, and also being able to see through my arms and hands in the end was a highly unlikely outcome, but I put trust into my abilities, and that my eyes are stronger than those of others!"
Sylver was speechless. This was completely insane. And it totally fitted what Sylver knew of Eyelash so far. And that woman was not hindered in her ability to kill whatever was in her way, if anything she probably was even more dangerous than she had been before.
"Furthermore, when my second eye has been transferred to the correct space I can be a normal part of Squad 0 again, and be more helpful than ever, and it will be awesome!", Eyelash went on.
And then, a moment before the elevator somewhere behind Sylver opened up, Eyelash did the last thing Sylver had expected or wanted.
She said, "I can also now do this!", and then she lay her palm on top of Sylver's left eye, took hold of her neck with her other hand, and kissed her passionately.
And for just a moment she was brought back. To Goldie. To how her life has been so far, and how complicated her love life had always been, and how she had lost her one chance when she got shot and brought to where she was now. And then reality set back in. Being with Eyelash would not be complicated. It would not be a one-sided thing. This came from Eyelash, not herself. Her left eye was open, looking deep into that beautiful white of Eyelash's eyes. And Sylver did not want this. She did not want a killer to kiss her. She did not want a psychopath and sociopath to kiss her. She did not want someone so instable and mad to kiss her. But in that moment Sylver knew that she really wanted Eyelash to kiss her. And that she really liked it. And then the elevator's doors opened. The kissing stopped. But not because of either of the two women. It was because Ass, who had just come in with the elevator together with Matt, was dragging Eyelash to the ground forcefully and left her there, one foot at her throat.
"Are you alright? What did that psycho do to you? I will get her out of your quarters immediately!", Matt said to her in the meantime, checking her face for injuries. Eyelash just lay there, laughing, while Ass tried to shut her up without success.
"Hey, stop!", Sylver said, her voice strangely high. Damn crushes. "She did nothing wrong! Well, not to me at least! And she assured me that she would not harm me in any way! She said she would train me in the short time I have to learn, but when we came here everyone wanted to kill her and harm me! She protected herself and protected me as well, I got hit by some strange woman with levitational skills and I think I broke some bones, but after passing out I woke up safe and sound!"
Matt looked at her. Sceptical. Ass looked at her the same way. And Eyelash on the floor had her palm and face turned towards her, and the eye in her palm winked to Sylver.
"Ass, I know you don't really like her mind, but check if that is true! And Eyelash... you are the most reliable warrior I can have outside on the battlefields. You are invaluable. But sometimes your mind leads to issues. You know that. We will confirm what Sylver here said, and listen to your truth. But keep in mind that I have Wildcards. This girl here... both you and Ass saw it first-hand, and I trust you two... she is very special, and with her at our side we can stop being Outcasts, and start being a requested Squad 0 again... a place for Outcasts who just want a place in the world without being called names...", Matt said to her, and with those words Ass helped Eyelash up and without any more words they moved out of sight into the elevator. Sylver thought she heard Eyelash whisper "See you later", but she wasn't sure.
Matt looked at her a little bit longer before asking, "Sylver, did she really not do anything...? I can understand you being afraid of her while she was here, but you can speak the truth now..."
Wow. So much mistrust to a Squad member. Something like this must've happened before.
"She really did not do anything! I am fine! The kiss was unexpected, but not unpleasant. And you do not need to change my roommate, really! Who knows who I could end up with... Eyelash thinks I am interesting, doesn't she? So I will be safe with her, safer than with a stranger who could be set up to get rid of me, if I am such an important tool to you, just like Eyelash, Ass, Wildcards and probably Snuff are as well, that is not unlikely, is it? If I do have these supposed powers that you and many others want, I will be safer with her than you with Snuff, from what I have heard!", Sylver reassured him, swinging her legs of the hospital bed and getting up.
"Damn, I feel really good!", she said to for one lighten the mood, and secondly because it really was the truth. No kind of pain anywhere, even though she should have multiple broken bones. Matt looked confused and not completely satisfied yet, but he made no move to ask questions any more. Instead he went to the elevators and waved at her to come with him.
She followed, asking, "Where are we going now?" after getting into the elevator next to him.
"You still need to learn", he answered, "We don't want something like this to happen again!"
With these words he pressed a random-seeming button and they sped off.
