"Singleness isn't a season to "endure" until marriage, but a season to serve God to the best of our ability."
-GirlDefinedI came across this quote recently and it spoke volumes to how I have been feeling lately. Let's be honest, a lot of us are guilty of seeing singleness as some sort of punishment. We view singleness as some long journey we have to travel before we reach the oh-so-wonderful final destination of Relationshipland. We constantly ask God when that special person is going to show up. We constantly ask God to give us signs and confirmation. We constantly question if God really hears us because all of our guy friends and girl friends are in relationships...except for us. In all of it, we constantly miss out on opportunities to serve God to the best of our abilities.
I get it. This desire in our hearts can be a pain where the sun doesn't shine, but let us not overlook the chances we have to shine for the Lord. In this season, we can do so much more because we are single. We don't have to worry about date nights conflicting with the times we have to serve in church. Serve in your church as much as you want! We don't have to worry about missing phone calls or texts from that special person. Talk to God whenever you want. Call that friend you haven't talked to in a while. We don't have to worry about not getting to hang out with our best friends. Get your girl friends and guy friends together and just enjoy each other's company for a day!
Look at how much we don't have to worry about! Use this time to grow closer to the Lord and the people you have in your life right now. Deepen that relationship with Christ before you jump into the deep end of relationships. Your relationship with Christ sets the tone for every other relationship you have—platonic or romantic.
Ladies and gentlemen, this season in your life is such a blessing. Take my word for it. I've been able to do and see so much in this season of my life. Each moment is preparing me and you for the future God has in store for us. We just need to place these desires of our hearts in His hands and leave them there.
He has the purest intentions for us, so let us not forget that. Embrace this season, my dudes and lovely babes. The best is yet to come.
