Aboard Akula-class Dreadnought UNCN Konev, Defense-Fleet 27; Off-Orbit of Mars

It's been a moments rest for the Cosmo Navy since the last Garmillas Fleet showed themselves, only deciding on bombarding Earth with meteorite bombs repetitively to kill the humans inhabiting the surface behind their plasma shielded cities powered by massive generators underground. Some cities did get breached, but only through concentrated bombing.. the others stood strong to show human resilience.

The human Captain onboard the Konev could only watch in humiliation as each bomb passes his fleet and sending waves of radiation to the once green and lush planet, with small patches retaining that colour thanks to the protective city barriers.

His name was presented on the uniform he wore, a clear Russian name; Andrei. The Captain commandeered the proud vessel, of the same class that could damage Garmillas ships with the nuclear arsenal the Russian warships carried. However, the yields of these nukes were not your standard modern megaton warhead.. but a result from nuclear fission, giving an increased blast range and firepower for ships that were in it's path, and even if they were not demolished by the explosive wave, there was another thing that should be taken into account— the aftereffects from EMP that fries most electrical systems.

Andrei would often check his holoscreen for updates and listening to the occasional chatter of the bridge crew.

"Main Fleet 1, approaching from our stern portside."

The Russian commander looked out the bridge viewport, towards the designated direction of Main Fleet 1, the most decorated and equipped screen of the Cosmo Navy with the newly commissioned Montana-class Dreadnoughts. A direct counterpart of the Akula-class in many respective ways, including a fully functional warp capability.. due to the increased research progress from facing full-scale war and imminent extinction.

Tachyon technology was at its peak performance now, with ships of the latest year and design fitted with such tech and it's equipment. The Wave Motion Engine was introduced in that sense, powering the vessels into orbit with unrecorded speed ever known to man. The Japanese spaceships would soon be fitted with these technology, and specialized well in it.

As for the United States, they relied more on their power reactors that would make up a weapon system's base of energy. Through observation and reports, kinetic energy weapons were able to pierce through Garmillas warships mainly equipped on fast destroyers targeting the enemy bridge and vital points of a ship.

Thus, resulting in the birth of the Magnetic Accelerator Cannon. Compared to the railgun platforms fitted on the previous Iowa-class battleships, the MAC is classified as a coilgun that fires either tungsten rounds or depleted uranium cored slugs at it's current load of 600-ton to a staggering speed of 30,000 metres per second. A leap in kinetic energy weapons for the humans, which would prove to be important in engaging the Garmillas.

While the new ships rolled in, the older versions are sent back for major refit and equipment addition, mainly for the engine and new armament.

One such ship is the Konev proudly moving towards Jupiter with her fleet and Main Fleet 1, the only Russian dreadnought to receive the newly equipped MAC.

Their current objective being an experiment to test-field their new toys on field, maybe against live targets.. perhaps a 'Garmillas' ship or two.

Andrei inhaled and exhaled at the thought of re-engaging the aliens after what seemed to be a long war of attrition although one-sided. He knew that the new weapons were going to work but their shields would just get pierced after 3 to 4 hits, then the hull armour will be pulverized and the ships torn into pieces. These ships bestowed to them— are considered "Glass Cannons", heavy hitters but vulnerable to damage and easily shattered.
