"A spark?"
Her eyes were wide and she was frozen. Only Cybertronians had sparks. "I overlooked CNA as being the other half of you as it would be impossible for you to have been born, but it seems you indeed have it mingled with your altered DNA."
"Ratchet, what are you saying?"
He stared down at Ivi for a long moment before he turned to the screen and then back to her. "You are half Cybertronian."
Ivi felt her throat tighten and she asked, "How?"
"Are you sure you want to know right now?"
"Please tell me."
He seemed to hesitate, but Ivi tilted her head, hoping he would see she could handle it. Whether that was true wasn't a concern to her. She needed to know. "You cannot have been born. Archaens and Cybertronians are not compatible. The only logical answer is that you were made, for what purpose I don't know."
She wasn't born. So, she didn't have any real parents. "What is strange though, is you have two sets of given code here. Whoever made you took DNA and CNA from an Archaen and a Cybertronian respectively. As far as who, I have no idea. I don't have any databases here and the Archaens don't leave their planet anymore."
...she did have biological parents? Her head was only getting more and more fuzzy at all this. "But What was that light?" Ivi asked, trying not to remember Kyle's nails in her arms.
Ratchet looked at the other Autobots, but they seemed to be minding their own business. "Ivi, as Cybertronians, when we were created, the Creators matched fragments of sparks together, then separated them into two. Those two sparks are linked forever. It's just a story, not entirely true, but we call those sparks Sparkmates. From my research, it is similar to what humans call soulmates."
"However, Sparkmates can have no other besides the one they were made for. Our sparks lash out at anyone attempting intimacy that isn't our sparkmate."
For once, Ivi completely understood where he was going with this. "So I...have a sparkmate? But I was made," She whispered.
"Yes, but it would seem that you are indeed bound to someone, or else no such reaction would have occurred," Ratchet pointed out.
"So, my...sparkmate is a Cybertronian. How many Cybertronians are there?"
"Millions, spread out across the universe."
"Oh," she said.
It was very unlikely that Ivi would ever meet said person. "How would I even know if they are still alive?"
At that, Ratchet visibly winced. "You will know...should anything happen to them. Now, it won't be as painful as when you are bonded, but you will feel the loss."
Ivi saw the way he turned away; her question had obviously brought up something painful to him. "I'm sorry," Ivi whispered, then made her way off of the workstation.
She really wanted to be alone, before all of this information hit her like a tsunami. Everything had happened at once it was so...overwhelming. Ivi wasn't sure where she was going, but before long she was out of the base, walking along the sand and feeling the sea breeze hit her. She walked for what seemed like an hour before she came upon a alcove where the beach continued while the cliff continued above. It was like a tiny cave, and Ivi decided it was better to sit there instead of continuing to wander. She had a sparkmate. Someone who was meant for her. Someone she could actually...love. But she might never find them. Ivi sat down on the cold sand, feeling the water hit her boots and set her forehead against her knees. On top of all that, she wasn't even human. Not even partially. Just alien. The girl tried to calm herself, but a few tears slipped out before she regained her composure. So much had happened in the last couple of hours, and none of it was good. At least, not to her. She clutched at her knees, pulling them closer to her chest. The cold was now starting to get to her, and it all sucked. However, the days events were starting to get to her as Ivi felt her eyes begin to close, now heavy suddenly. Then, however, she heard the rumble of a truck and jolted up in surprise as it stopped just before the little cave. No doors opened and the rumbling stopped. Uh. Ivi heard footsteps coming towards her and stood, fists clenched in case she didn't like who was approaching her. Around the corner came a tall, dark-haired man, looking at her with wide eyes. Ivi was about to use her power to throw him back when she saw his eyes, they were unnaturally blue with gold and white flecks; just like hers. "Ivi," the man said gently in the deep voice that she knew.
It was Optimus. She felt safe again, but her anger came back and the girl started walking away again, trying to skirt around the edge of the cave to the cliff. However, Optimus stopped her, pulling in her arm, and they toppled over into the water. The girl flared at him as the water chilled her to her core, but it ebbed a bit when she saw the look of surprise on his face at the water. It was so hard to stay mad when he was like a child. However, it disappeared when he looked back at her, and the serious and concerned look returned. "Ratchet told me what happened," he started, but Ivi shook her head.
"I am fine."
Optimus frowned, a slightly annoyed look on his face. "Listen," he ordered.
Ivi fell silent and just watched him. "I was built too, Ivi. The Creators made me to be a Prime, and I learned from other Primes, who had all been built as well."
She tilted her head, how involved are the Creators with their race? "While you may not like it, to have been designed is an honor. It means you are exactly as you were intended to be," he said, the frown fading away.
It was nice when he said it like that, but humans liked being born. It was an insult to be a test-tube baby. Then again, she wasn't human, was she? Ivi found just a bit of comfort in his words and nodded. "I am here if you need me, Ivi, you are not alone."
She couldn't help but laugh at how cheesy that was, and he joined her. His laugh was nice, and Ivi actually found she was enjoying his company, even if he had caused them both to be soaking wet and covered in sand as they headed back to the base. She wasn't sure how the one person that had caused her grief had managed to cheer her up, but she was thankful for it. She was glad he was there, it truly meant the world to her. Even as she crawled into her bed and started to drift off to sleep, Ivi found herself smiling.
