Tony's POV
I had multiple business meetings in the main part of New York this week so I was staying at Stark Tower since I hadn't sold it and it still had the basic furniture in it. After coming back from a boring meeting I went back to the tower, I almost tripped over the massive piles of newspapers in the front door of the tower. I sighed and picked them all up and made my way upstairs, I couldn't be bothered putting them all in the bin right now so I dumped them all on the bench. I groaned as a quarter of the newspapers slipped onto the ground and I picked them up and chucked them back onto the pile when something caught my eye.
I pulled the paper out of the pile of newspapers and on the front page there was the bold headline and it made my heart stop and panic start to arise.
Is Spider-Man gone forever?
I scanned through the article and as I read through it my heart continued to beat faster and faster.
Spider-Man has completely disappeared from the streets of New York, no one has spotted him for ages and many people have concluded that Spider-Man is no more. We don't know the true identity of the web-swinger but many people say that he was killed doing his duty.
"Spider-Man would never abandon New York so I strongly believe he was injured during a rescue mission," said 44-year-old Carl Benson (A superhero photographer)
A while ago we received word that Spider-Man left the Avengers after having a heated argument with the famous Iron Man and many people have come up with their owns theories and opinions on the situation.
"I believe that the Avengers betrayed Spider-Man, he's saved me once before and he's such a friendly and kind person. Plus, Iron Man is known for his quick temper and trust issues so perhaps he questioned Spider-Man's loyalty to him and that's why he left," said a Spider-Man fan.
The crime rates have gone up drastically and many public shootings have occurred but no one showed up. Has Spider-Man truly abandoned us? Have the Avengers influenced him and now he's forgotten about us? Spider-Man, if you are reading this, New York still needs you, where ever you are please come back.
I placed the paper down and my heart was thumping wildly in my ears and a million questions were racing through my head. Where was he? Did I do something to make him give up being Spider-Man?
I called to my suit and stepped into it, I had to find him and I needed to know what was going on. As I flew through the city I prayed that it was just a really old article and that Peter just had a school trip or something and that's why he was absent for a while.
I landed outside his apartment building and people on the sideway were shocked that Iron Man was standing in front of an old apartment building. I ignored them all and flew up the stairs until I reached their apartment, I knocked on the door and stepped out of my suit. No one replied and I couldn't hear anything through the door, I frowned. It was Winter Break, May could possibly be working and maybe Peter was out but it something felt off.
I knocked again but still, there was no reply. I tried to handle and I was surprised when the door swung open. I walked inside and stopped in the small hallway, it was completely bare. There was no furniture or clothes or anything in the apartment, I was really worried now. I stepped back into my suit and went to the manager of the apartment building, I knocked on his door and stepped out of my suit once again.
"M-M-Mr T-tony S-stark!" he stammered.
"Look I just need a simple answer, do you know what happened to May and Peter Parker? They used to live in apartment 245," I said.
