Peter's POV
A few days later.
I stuck around New York for a while and I asked Ned to cover for my classes and he told the teachers I had a family emergency and had to return home for a few days.
I was sitting on top of the building when I got a call from Harley.
"Peter! You know that jar you told me not to let anyone touch!" Harley shouted through the phone.
"What happened?" I asked urgently.
"Olivia snuck into your lab and accidentally knocked it over and now there's this black creature thing in the living room, Dad is fighting it now and the rest of us are hiding, none of us were hit though," he explained.
"I'm on my way," I replied.
I was at the Avengers Base in a few seconds flat and I smashed the window to get into the living room, Tony was firing repulsors at it which was only making it bigger and angrier.
"Is your suit water-proof?" I asked Tony.
"Yes, why?" he replied.
I ripped the fire alarm off the ceiling and a few seconds later the sprinklers went off, the creature shrieked and smoke appeared but it didn't disappear as it should have.
"Is there a pool or a lake nearby?" I asked as I shot a few webs at it.
"Yeah, it's above that tall bridge," Tony replied.
"We need to lead it there,"
I jumped out of the Avenger's Base and shot a web at Venom, I yanked it out the building and it roared as it fell down. Tony flew down and grabbed Venom a flew it upwards, it struggled against Tony but luckily it didn't escape. I quickly swung alongside them until we reached the bridge that was lit up against the dark night sky.
"It's holding onto me, I can't get rid of it!" Tony shouted.
I shot a web onto the creature and jumped off the bridge pillar and fell through the air pulling the creature away from Tony. I was about to shoot another web away from the water but the creature dug its claws into my chest and dragged me down as we fell towards the water.
"Peter!" Tony shouted.
I heard his suit flying after me and I tried to shoot a web at the bridge but since it was night time I didn't know where I was shooting it.
My body slammed into something hard which was surprisingly the surface of the water, the creature continued to drag me down and finally, its claws disappeared as the creature disappeared into nothing. I tried to swim upwards but my foot was caught on something at the bottom, I tried to yank my foot free but it didn't work. I was starting to panic and I tried harder but it didn't work, my lungs were telling me to breathe but I had to hold on longer. Was I going to die? Was I finally going to see my family and Hallie again? If I was then I was ready for it. Suddenly, I felt myself being jerked upwards, suddenly I felt the cool air around me and I gasped for breath.
Wait, who was holding me? I had a mini panic attack and quickly elbowed the person in the face and start to fall towards the bridge, I shot a web and swung up onto the nearest building. I leant against the air conditioning block and pulled my mask off still gasping for air, I coughed a few times and closed my eyes as I took a few steadying breaths.
"Are you alright kid?" said a voice.
I spun around and relief flowed through me when I realized it was just Tony.
"You gave me a heart attack," I said.
"You were the one that almost drowned and you're saying I gave you a heart attack?" he replied.
I squeezed the water out of my mask and shook it a few times.
"C' mon you're going to freeze if you stay out here any longer," Tony said, "And I don't want to hear any excuses about you worrying that you're putting us in danger because we live with the AVENGERS, we're in the most protected place on earth kid,"
"I know but they're not always home so what if something happens to Olivia or Morgan because of me?" I argued.
"Please kid, just come back with me," pleaded Tony.
I sighed and gave it, I jumped off the building and shot a web-swinging back through New York and to the Avenger's Base.
When I went inside Pepper flung herself towards me and squeezed me in a tight hug, I felt kind of awkward and I kind of hugged her back.
"Peter, we've talked about this, you don't need to shut us out to protect us, nothing is going to happen to us. We have the Avengers here and Tony can always call his suit, I promise none of us are going to leave," Pepper said.
That's what May said, but she left just like everyone else.
I forced a small smile and just nodded.
"I know, I'm sorry I guess I sort of need to work on that," I said sheepishly.
"I know things have been hard but to forget about the past you need to move on," Tony added.
I let his words sink in and I just nodded again. It's been a year since Hallie died and multiple years since my Aunt died, maybe I was just holding onto the past because I was too scared to face the future. MJ and I have gotten a lot closer at college and I knew she wanted to be more than friends but she was giving me time to get over Hallie, but maybe I was already over Hallie and just scared to face another relationship because of what happened last time.
"Yeah you guys are right, I'm sorry for ignoring you," I said, "I am turning 18 soon so I understand if you guys don't want me around,"
"You can't get rid of us that easily, you're visiting us on all your breaks," Pepper said.
"You're apart of the family, you just need to realise it,"
