Ob's POV
I was sitting on the couch in our new cabin when Anti walked up to me."You know, since you're a demon, you need to start hunting," he said.
"I know," I said, knowing what he meant. "However, I absolutely refuse to hurt anyone innocent."
"Fair enough," Anti said. "Oh, and one more thing. Do you have wings?"
"Yep," I replied, showing Anti my large black bat-like wings with (f/c) skin over the bones.
"Well, I think I found your first victim." He punched the coordinates into his portal device and we walked through to a large mansion.
"No doubt there's going to be guards," Anti said. He handed me a knife.
"Oh, I'm counting on it." Sure enough, there were guards. Anti and I had the upper hand due to our powers and the training that (Y/n) and I had received from our martial arts classes that we had taken back in Ohio.
"You're really good, you know," Anti said.
"Thanks," I replied. "Learning self-defense does help a lot."
We stopped at a door that was slightly ajar. I would've pulled my knife out were it not for the faint sound of crying. We walked into the room to see a young demon girl, about 7 years old, curled up in a ball on her bed. And she was in tears. She had large black bat-like wings with sky blue skin over the bones. They were tattered, and the bones were broken, making her wings look crumpled. I pulled my wings into my back.
Riley's POV
"Hey," a girl said as she walked up to me and sat on my bed. "Are you okay?"
I immediately wrapped her in a hug and began sobbing into her shoulder. She responded by stroking my sky blue hair. I knew she was a demon, just like me. I could tell because of her (f/c) hair and her black eyes with glowing (f/c) irises.
"I'm Obsidian, but you can call me Ob," she said. "What's your name?"
"R-Riley," I said.
"Riley. Cute name for a cute girl," she remarked. I looked up at her with a smile on my face and very red cheeks (yes, the Shadow-dancer did make me blush), and that's when she saw my eyes. Like all demons, the whites of my eyes were as black as my pupils, but my irises glowed a beautiful sky blue.
"Can you tell me what happened?" she asked me.
"Well, it started a year ago when I was separated from my host, Abigail," I began. "Our parents sent her off to foster care and brought me back home. Of course, Abi and I did keep in touch."
"I should've known Antimatter was behind this," she said while stopping herself from clenching her fists.
"You know him?" I asked Ob.
"He's the one who created that machine," she explained. "Last month, around the same time as (Y/n)'s cousin, Jacksepticeye, was recording his playthrough of Five Nights At Freddy's: Sister Location, Antimatter had Darkiplier use that extraction machine on (Y/n) and I. I was then taken to another room where Antimatter used another machine to strip me of my power. Fortunately, I was saved by (Y/n), Jack, Antisepticeye, and Markiplier before he could completely take my power."
"What would've happened if you hadn't been saved?" I asked her.
"I would've been dead," she stated. "Once a demon loses all of their power, they die."
"A month later, Abi's new foster parents realized that something was wrong with her and set her up for weekly therapy sessions," I explained. "The sessions went smoothly for the first two months, but by February her therapist was replaced by someone else, and things started to go downhill from there. Her foster parents and I began to realize that she was suffering from depression. We tried to help, but after her final session in August, she...was gone."
I couldn't take it anymore and resumed crying into her shoulder. All she did in response was rock me in her lap.
"There's only one demon who could've caused Abi to do that," Ob said.
"Who?" I asked her.
"Natemare." Ob was right. See, my unique power allows me to place good thoughts into the minds of others. Natemare's powers have the complete opposite effect from mine. It must be why my irises and hair are the color of the sky on a beautiful sunny day.
Suddenly, my parents barged in.Ob's POV
"What is going on in here?!" said a large man I assumed was Riley's father. His wife was standing next to him. At least until Anti glitch-tackled her. He stormed up to Riley and I, yanking her out of my embrace. He grabbed her by her wings, making her cry out in pain. My own wings sprung back out, and my claws and fangs grew.
"You're WEAK!" he shouted at her. "PATHETIC! I thought you could help me keep my minions in control by using your powers on them, but I guess I was WRONG!"
"LEAVE HER ALONE!" I yelled at him in a demonic voice. The crime boss responded by dropping his daughter's demon, but I managed to get my shadow to catch her. I could hear Anti's glitching becoming more frequent. I was absolutely furious at how he was treating Riley, and realized that he had treated Abi the same way. My irises were glowing very intensely due to how angry I was. I spread my wings as a means of asserting my dominance. The tips were razor-sharp.
"Hide," I told Riley after setting her down. She immediately bolted for her closet.
"I've heard about what you did to your daughter," I said to the man as I walked up to him, pulling out my knife. "You don't deserve to live."
"Who made you the judge of that?" he asked me.
"I just know that this world would be better off without people like you," I said as I brought the knife to his neck. "It's ironic. Your little crime operation has been foiled by a couple of demons."
It really is ironic, Ob.
I couldn't agree with you more, (Y/n).
Blood began to trickle down the blade, and I pushed harder. As soon as he lost consciousness due to loss of blood, I used my portal device to toss his body into the cabin.
"Come on, I know a place where we can get you healed," I told Riley as I gently picked her up. I told Anti that I'd be coming home late, and he went back to the cabin using his own portal. I opened a portal to the Blackwater Spring, which is capable of restoring a demon's powers and, if necessary, their body.
"This is the place I went to after my ordeal with Dark and Antimatter," I told Riley as I set her down in the middle of the spring.
Riley's POV
Immediately after I was set down, the water shot up, enveloping me."Don't show any fear!" Ob told me. I realized that I could communicate with the demon in the spring via my thoughts.
"Please heal me," I pleaded to the spring's demon. It understood me, and used its powers to send the water into my wings, healing the bones and skin. As soon as the water calmed down, I tried to move my wings, and was pleasantly surprised to find that I could. I was overjoyed.
Ob's POV
With her wings healed, a very happy Riley shot up into the air. She did a few tricks in the air, before coming down to hover in front of me, silently beckoning me to fly with her. I used my wings to lift myself off the ground, and soon, we were flying through the clouds."So, what are you going to do next?" I asked her.
"Well, I did just get a distress message from Abi, so she's not dead after all," she said.
"Where is she?" I asked Riley.
"She's...being held captive...by Antimatter." I clenched my fists in anger when Riley said that.
"Don't worry, I'm not mad at you," I reassured her.
"I can tell," she replied. "We do have a common enemy, after all."
"Then this is where we part ways," I said. "We'll see each other again, I just know it. I'm going to miss you, though."
"I'll miss you too, Shadow-dancer," she said as she hugged me. I hugged her back, smiling at her knowing who I am. She then flew off to find Abi, and I made my way home.
