Akane's P.O.V

Arriving back at the palace we walked in through the doors and sighed as we heard our names being called out to us.
"Akane! Saya!" Spinning round on our heels, we saw Erwin walking towards us with an expectant look on his face. "How was it? Did you keep an eye out for Eren Jaeger?" He asked.
"Yeah we kept an eye out but....." Saya started.
"But he got swallowed up by a Titan that reminded us of Santa." I finished her sentence. Being twins came in handy as we both knew what the other wanted to say and we could also get jobs done without having to communicate.
"But we managed to save the blonde kid Armin Arlert who we thought was a girl first by his screams." Saya chuckled, her sense of humour very much like my own making me smirk amused. Erwin's eyes narrowed at us in annoyance and suddenly our heads began to hurt as he smacked us both round the back of the head.
"Ow! What was that for?" We both whined.
"Violence is not the answer Commander." I retorted smartly, smirking when I saw an anger mark appear on his forehead.
"What is wrong with you two? I strictly told you to keep an eye out for him, which obviously means to make sure he doesn't get eaten!" He lectured us.
"What did you expect us to do? We weren't close enough to save him Erwin. Would you prefer if one of your best fighters dived in after him to die as well?" Saya snapped. Laying my hand on her shoulder, I gave her a look telling her to calm down which she did, quickly composing herself to our normal expressionless faces. Erwin's expression softened.
"I'm sorry girls, I thought you were ready for that responsibility." I could see Saya's fists tighten so I gently laid my hand over hers but she abruptly shook it off and stepped forward.
"It's not that we weren't responsible, it's that we were obviously too slow and distracted to get there in time. You shouldn't be sympathising us, you should be punishing us for our mistakes that must have cost you greatly." I looked at her and rolled my eyes, of course she would do that, she never takes mistakes lightly. Erwin shook his head slightly and looked up at us.
"Anyway, Hanji wants you. It's something to do with the injuries." Saya and I nodded before we slowly walked away to meet Hanji in the lab.

Walking into the lab, we saw Zoe Hanji sitting there at her desk smiling at us. She was looking between my right eye which was covered by a black eye patch and Saya's cheek. So she wanted to check our scars that had been caused recently by experiments that the palace had been performing on us to get our agility, reaction and healing time to increase to help out in combat. As we were brought up in the palace it was easier for them to use us for experiments instead of picking people off of the streets. Both of us had been victims to their experiments and due to the syrum failing and causing something to go wrong, we both managed to get scars though for Saya, her body handled it worse than mine. The face scar was nothing but a mere scratch compared to the one on her chest/stomach. They were caused by different reasons though, the scar on her cheek was done through training as part of the sword flew off and scratched her across the face, but the one running from under her right breast down to her belly button, and could be seen if she wore a crop top, was caused by testing a syrum that failed and caused her to lose her sense of direction and sight which in turn caused her to fall off the branch when training in the forest and land on a sharp tree branch which had ripped the skin open. My own scar going across my right eye starting above the eyebrow to my cheek bone, was caused by a stronger syrum being tested than the one that Saya had taken, it caused me to lose body control so as I aimed to strike at the target in training, my arm moved differently to how I wished and it sliced the skin across my eye. I had been told that the cut had been very deep and I was extremely lucky that my eye wasn't damaged and that I hadn't turned blind.
"How are you two? You're scars look perfectly healed." She commented as I took off my eye patch. Hanji had been a great supporter for us two as we went through the experiments and was like a mother/older sister figure to us no matter how crazy people thought she was. "I see the improved syrum we gave you is working well as those scars have already appeared and look very beautiful only three weeks after." She grinned, the same grin she wore when her experiments on Titans were proven worth while.
"They're perfectly fine now Hanji. I can see clearly and Saya is having no troubles from the scar on her stomach at all." I smirked with a shrug.
"Very well then, oh, and I've also been informed to tell you both that starting this weekend you shall be working for the Survey Corps and joining us." At this information Saya and I both froze. The Survey Corps. The team that our parents worked for. Though we had been brought up in the palace out of sight, we knew who our parents were as Keith Shadis had informed us when we were young. He had even snuck us out one time to see them in action. "Erwin doesn't want you two mentioning anything to Captain Levi or Petra though there will be suspicions about your last name as it is also hers. Do not answer anything they ask, only when Erwin allows them to know, will you mention anything." She instructed. We nodded in understanding and began to talk with her about the new recruits we had seen and also about our parents. Though we may sound emotionless or mean as some thought we were and how we may act, there were few who truly knew what we were like around people we trusted and liked, for example, Hanji and Commander Erwin. Taking part in the Survey Corps may seem like hard work to others, but it was one way for Saya and I to get to know our parents without them even knowing about it. I had a feeling that we were going to enjoy our time in the team.....

We had been talking for a while before we heard some commotion going on in the palace. Confused and scared shouts could be heard coming from the hallways. Worried, we all left the lab and walked towards where the commotion was coming from. A cadet came running towards us looking frantic.
"Commander Smith said he wanted you three to meet him as you two are needed in Trost as there's an emergency." He informed us, his voice sounding confused also.
"Right, let us get our maneuver gear and we'll be on our way." Akane informed the cadet before she turned around and walked towards the lab to collect them from where we had taken them off during the process of being examined.

We soon arrived at the place we were supposedly meeting Erwin but he was nowhere to be found. As we looked around we noticed that there were four Titans, two peering into a hole in the wall and two just standing around. It quickly became apparent to us that this was the building where the gas was to be refilled. We looked at each other and nodded in understanding and we unsheathed our swords and prepared ourselves to help. However, just as we did another Titan came along, but instead of attacking us like we prepared for, it attacked the two Titans that were peering into the building. It ran up to them and punched one in the face with such a force it caused the other one to be sent flying as well. The mystery Titan somehow looked similar to that Jaeger boy that we had seen being eaten earlier today. Using the Titan as a distraction we made our way into the building through the hole in the wall. Landing in the building, people's heads turned towards us and they looked confused as well as worried. As we scanned the room, both of our eyes snapped to the black haired girl who we had seen earlier in the day. The one who took down that Titan single handedly.
"Who are you two?" She demanded, her eyes skimming over us carefully. Blonde hair caught my eye causing me to look over and sure enough there was the boy we both saved earlier on as well. He looked a lot better than he did earlier which was good, and he was staring straight back at me with recognition in his eyes.
"You two are the girls who took me away from the Titan that.......... ate Eren." Armin said shocked at first before his voice dropped lower with sadness at the mention of his friends death.
"It doesn't really matter who we are at the moment, but so we won't be asked again and I'll only say this once. Our names are Akane and Saya." I introduced us, gesturing to Saya when I said her name so they would get the point.
"You guys have noticed the Titan out there that doesn't seem interested in humans right?" Saya asked, her voice sounding bored as her eyes scanned over everyone in the room. Three cadets nodded in response, Armin, the short black haired girl and a boy with excited hazel eyes and shaved hair. "What are your names?" Saya asked looking between two of them as well as this light brown eyed boy who still seemed shocked of what was going on around him.
"Connie Springer." The hazel eyed boy told us.
"Mikasa Ackerman." The short black haired girl informed us. Ackerman? Was she related to Captain Levi somehow? As I looked over at Saya, the same question could easily been seen in her eyes too, a hand running through her dark brown hair in thought.
"Jean...... Jean Kirstein." The shocked boy said, his voice seeming distracted and distant.
"And I'm Sasha Blouse!" A cheerful voice called out. "This is Marco Bott." Looking over, I saw a light brown eyed girl staring back at us, her brown hair pulled up into a pony tail and a happy-go-lucky smile on her face. The boy next to her was freckled and black haired like myself and Mikasa, and light brown eyes.
"Nice to meet you all..... anyway, about the Titan outside....." Saya began but was interrupted by Connie's voice.
"If we play our cards correctly, we can get out of here alive!" He exclaimed to the whole group excitedly. Saya looked a little annoyed at having been interrupted but I could tell that because of that, she was beginning to respect him. He seemed like somebody we would get along with, as well as that Sasha girl and Marco.
"We'd use...... the Titan?" A boy's voice asked confused and shocked.
"You'd rely on a Titan's help?" Jean spluttered out shocked. "That's more delusional than any dream!"
"It's not a dream." Mikasa and Saya said at the same time. They briefly looked at each other before Saya let her continue. "I don't care if it's an abnormal or whatever, just let it rampage here for as long as possible. Realistically, that's our best option for survival." She informed them. The girl was smart I'll give her that. When I looked over to see Saya's reaction she seemed bored and I internally chuckled as to me her annoyance at being out staged was obvious. This should be interesting to see what they do in these conditions......
