Chapter 4

Saya's P.O.V

We looked on at the scene in front of us. Titan Eren was picking up the boulder. The mission was going to plan after all. Lifting up the boulder he began to walk towards where the hole is, Armin not far behind him. His footsteps caused everyone to turn and look at him in shock as he walked. Lots of steam surrounded him as he walked due to the strain of his muscles even though he was a Titan, his eyes glowing in determination. Armin called out to Mikasa but we ignored whatever he was saying as we began to run along the rooftops so we could catch up with Titan Eren, knowing that he'd need protecting from the other Titans now that we had figured out that they were drawn to him for some reason.

"Listen well!" Dietrich's voice shouted out catching everyone's attention including ours. We stopped running along the rooftops as we listened to what he had to say. "We must defend Eren until he reaches the gates, even if it costs us our lives! Don't let any Titans get near him!"
"Keep them all out of the way! We must support Eren!" Jean's voice joined in from further away.
"You two go to Eren. Akane! Saya! You two go as well! This is an order! Got it?"
"Yes, sir!" All four of us called back. We already knew what had to be done anyway.... Dietrich began running down the rooftop before halting and looking out over the Titan's coming towards us, to Mitabi's squad who were running along behind the Titans. They began to shout out to the Titan's and one of the sentences we heard made Akane and I begin to chuckle.
"Turn around, or I'll shove my sword right up your stinkin' ass and bleed you to death!" Jarnach called out threateningly. Two Titans turned round at that and Jarnach's face went from determined to worried in a second. Both the Titan's and the squad began to turn tail and run in the opposite direction that we were in, this made it easier for us to be rid of the Titan's quicker as two of them were already distracted.
"No way, staying on the ground is suicide." Armin gaped in disbelief. "Without horses or buildings, we can't fight."
"No..... It's the only way we've got left." Dietrich said, letting out a grunt of annoyance before running full scale for the edge of the roof and using his 3DMG to get down to the ground. "Everyone, follow their lead!"
"Armin, we're going too." Mikasa encouraged Armin, briefly glancing at Akane and I before both her and Armin began to follow everyone's lead. Sighing, Akane also used to her 3DMG to lower herself to the ground, with myself following her lead two seconds after with an annoyed groan.

People began splitting up in different directions and calling out to the Titans to get their attention as they ran away from the direction Titan Eren was coming. The suicidal plan was working. Titans began to split up from their previous destination and went after the people on the ground. We ran on the ground in front of Titan Eren, keeping our distance from him slightly so we didn't get crushed ourselves by the one we were trying to protect. Screams and shouts of fear could be heard whilst we were running and I could see on Akane's face that she was trying not to turn towards those screams. Though we had both been raised to not be phased by others deaths or troubles, we were humans after all, so of course they couldn't leave us completely emotionless. Akane had it the worst whenever there was children involved, she had the strongest mothering instinct out of us two, so if children were involved in something, she had a hard time keeping up her defences.
"Watch out! Titans!" Armin's alarmed voice called out to us.

"I'll handle this!" Mikasa's voice replied. Akane gave me a look that said 'stay with Armin' whilst she followed Mikasa towards the approaching Titans. Before they got there, Brzenska came flying towards the Titan Mikasa was about to go for, while Akane managed to reach the Titan she was going for and cut him down easily, whereas Brzenska cut out the eye of the Titan in front of us, blood flying out of the eye. The Titan let out a loud shout while Brzenska flew away from him, but Mikasa made her way towards the falling Titan, using her 3DMG to get behind him and skid along the floor while she aimed it at the things neck. She let out a shout of anger and determination as she cut along the weak point of the Titan, riding on it's neck as it fell to the floor in front of us.
"Go, Eren!" Armin yelled determined. Titan Eren let out a loud roar as he smashed the boulder in front of the hole to block it. It worked..... It actually bloody worked!! The yellow flare was fired and Brzenska stood there with tears in her eyes.
"Today, for the first time, mankind triumphed over the Titans." She breathed out as I came to a stop beside her grinning. Akane landed next to me and laid a hand on my shoulder, pride easily seen in her eyes as well as mine as we looked on at the cadets and the ray of hope we'd come to rely on.
