"The fear of losing someone is greater than death itself"

His words has been ringing nonstop on her mind for about, what, two days in a row? Since their last meeting.

Today was a bright sunny day, she had her breakfast and had spent her peaceful day inside her lab for the rest of the week. Also, with Hakase's diet that went smoothly, she shouldn't had anymore complaints. That was, until the next door neighbor pay them a visit thus made their brief talking about their personal issues.

She hadn't had any plans to be close with Okiya Subaru, as she knew something was wrong with the man in glasses. The eerie feelings she's got every time she made an encounter with those men in black oozed within him, thus made her feel the need to be extra cautious around him. Even though Kudou-kun is giving so much trust, he could not make her do the same.  Thankfully Kudou-kun seemed to understand that, at least.

But again, she cannot shake him off every time he takes a visit to Hakase's house, preferably holding a kettle full with Curry inside, she'd have to let him in. This made their sharp interchange. He had boldly asked her if she feared him. Her blunt answer rather made her feel odd as she said "just uncomfortable"

He made a statement that all was good as long as she hadn't feared him. Thus came the talk about fear. Especially fear towards deaths.

Well, she admitted she can relate to how it feels to lose someone, as in her sister and parents, but she had never felt the fear of losing someone. Those thoughts alone would be enough to make her shiver.

Nevertheless that was what Kudou-kun was facing.

He might be smiling wide and act like nothing is going wrong, but who knows what's in his heart? For someone who was being in a constant fear of losing their important person, it must be tough to still stand. Maybe Kudou-kun too, will lose his temper someday. Struck between the fear of losing Ran's life or her heart, it was amazing that he still hold his ground.

That aside, it made her aware of her own predicament more than before, thanks to Subaru-san.

Well, she wouldn't have held it against Kudou-kun if someday he told her the truth, just to keep her by his side. After all, she understood that Ran is the key to all his fight.

Not her.

Sigh.

She needs to hold her ground and make sure she will gonna be okay for that someday.

This, too, could be classified as one of her greatest fear.

The fear of losing someone's heart.
