We spent about half an hour just reading through the books we had picked up from the shelves. However, we eventually split up yet again and met back at the counter with our picks. I finally decided to buy the book, even though I was only able to read about five pages. I either believed in myself way too much or I just wanted to burn cash on a book like in the good old days. Just then Kaashi showed up carrying five books which she slammed onto the counter.
'You are going to read all that?' I asked suspiciously.
'My five books are equal to your one book!'
I quickly examined them. Each of her books was a quarter the size of mine but there is a lot more to the book than just size. 'Fair argument,' I said, not wanting to argue further. We billed our purchases, hers was about four times mine. She dropped her books into her bag.
'Here,' I said holding out my book, 'put it in your bag.'
She took it and put into the bag before holding out the bag and saying, 'Here, carry this.'
Classic. I took it anyways and we finally left the store.
We were in the store for just under an hour but by the time we walked out, it was already nightfall. The two of us managed to save up quite a lot of money last week, not going out for dinners and all. But we blew the entire savings on the books we just bought.
'You are hungry?' she asked.
'Yes... but I don't feel like having outside.'
'Why not? Come on, I will sponsor.'
'Nah,' I politely refused.
'It is alright, come on!' she forced me.
We strolled down the sidewalk, looking for a cheap place to eat. There were plenty of them but we didn't feel like having in any. Kaashi has an additional caveat of falling sick even at the slightest of diet imbalance. Therefore, ninety percent of the places that called themselves restaurants were out of place.
'Where do we go and eat?' I questioned, feeling kind of lost.
'One of my friends suggested a place,' she said looking into her phone.
'Where is it?'
'Here,' she said holding out her phone. I picked it up and spotted the location. It was quite close to our homes. Despite having plenty of places to eat right at our doorstep, we often fall back to our trust fast food place, mostly for budget concerns. But if Kaashi has a recommendation, it is always within our budget.
'Very close to our home, let's take an auto?' I said.
'Sure boss.'
*****
'Seriously though,' she said with her mouth stuffed with food, 'why did you choose that book? Look at the size of it.'
'Yeah... but I heard really good reviews of it. So I thought why not.'
'That is all great, but you should have started with something small. It has been ages since you read a book.'
'I got nothing better to do,' I said dismissively. She rolled her eyes.
'What is it about anyway?' she asked.
'It is a fantasy story. I didn't look up much but it is one of those... you know. Stories. Evil lord, good wizard, the chosen one.'
She had a puzzled look on her face, 'how old is that?'
'It isn't that old. Probably in the nineties.'
'That is old,' she said dismissively.
'Yeah... but it is still the same English. Didn't find it difficult to read like a classic.'
