currently, hyungwon was sitting in his all-time favourite place, the library with changkyun. he often finds peace and all his interest there, which was books. he liked how the library was filled with all the information he could find regarding school work and his well-being.
with his glasses on, flipping pages of a history book with his half-written essay on the cuba war in front of him. he was given the assignment to find out more about the war with a partner, who was, fortunately, changkyun. both were sitting and discussing for 2 hours straight, not even leaving for a bathroom break. hyungwon ran his fingers through his hair, his gaze not leaving the book until someone called out to him. "hyungwon!"
he turned his head to face the direction where the voice came from and there came the person he cared the most, hoseok. as soon as his eyes lands on hoseok, the sweet but torturing feeling started sprouting in his heart and lungs. his heart was sweet with all the mushiness in his stomach. however, his lungs were aching in pain as though as the roots of the plant was clinching onto every part of his flesh.
"are you doing the essay?" hoseok gleed brightly at the younger. hyungwon smiled softly and nodded. he knew that, if he opened his mouth, he wouldn't be able to resist the feeling of coughing. changkyun sensed that both hyungwon and hoseok would prefer their alone time. although changkyun is younger, he has a wise and smart brain which many admired. he stood up from the table as he packed his books inside his bag. "see you later." changkyun needed a break from history anyway.
hoseok beamed radiantly and responsively while waving goodbye to changkyun. he then quietly sat next to hyungwon, his hands making their way around the other's arms, like always. as soon as hyungwon came to realise what hoseok was doing, he became extremely stiff, not knowing what to do. he felt the tingling in his throat, the soreness punching him inside. that's when hyungwon couldn't help but cough a few times.
"do you still have the cold?" hoseok separated himself from hyungwon's arms and looked up at him with a worried look plastered on his angelic face.
hyungwon instantly nodded, not wanting the older to be concerned. hoseok wasn't too convinced but then continued to snuggle against hyungwon like he was doing before. hyungwon's facial expression turned soft, his heart aching whenever he fell in love with the older all over again. he slowly opened the palm of the hand which he covered his mouth when he coughed, revealing 3 petals coated with blood.
blood.
hyungwon was in shock. he didn't know how to feel, particularly when he was diagnosed with the illness 3 days ago. though, what he didn't know is, it only takes a month for the death of hanahaki to take place. it is a slow and physically painful death with the fact that you're dying because of one-sided love.
