hyungwon cautiously opened the door to his dorm room, not wanting to wake anybody up from their slumber. as soon as he closed the door, a figure appeared right in front of him.

"oh my god! don't scare me" the taller clutches onto his chest as he breathed out. "where have you been?" changkyun frowns, his arms crossed and his hair pointing out in different directions which shows that he woke up not long ago.

"i...uhh" hyungwon couldn't answer. he surely couldn't say that he has been to a party where he got drunk, cried to a guy named kihyun and had gotten sober before he headed back. changkyun sighs as he fetches himself a glass of water. "at least send me a text so i can worry less alright?"

to hyungwon, changkyun is a brother he could never ask for. changkyun has always stayed beside him whatever happens and prevented him from making foolish decisions. his protective side would show whenever hyungwon is in trouble. hyungwon doesn't even feel like the older brother since he would always be the one making stupid judgments and changkyun would reprimand him for it. the wise younger is what hyugnwon admires about him.

changkyun smiled softly as he began to make his way back to his bed. "wash yourself up and sleep tight. goodnight—"

"changkyun wait!" hyungwon blurted out as his eyes waver.

changkyun stopped on his tracks and turned around to face him replying with a "hm?"

"i..."hyungwon starts. however, his voice was refusing to come out. say it hyungwon! what are you waiting for? hyungwon trembled on his spot. he has always been telling changkyun about everything and the other has never judged him. but why was he so scared right now?

that's right. hyungwon was scared to die. he honestly didn't want to tell changkyun about it, this way it will lessen the weight on his friend's shoulders.

"i've been coughing out blood...along with the petals.." there. hyungwon said it. the younger's sleepy eyes widened. hyungwon was anxious. he knew that changkyun is scary when he's mad, especially when hyungwon hides from him. "why...why didn't you tell me earlier?" changkyun instantly rushed to the raven-haired boy and hugged him tightly as if the world was going to crumble.

hyungwon felt bad. extremely bad. he'd wish that changkyun would stop caring for him, afterall he has always been a burden. he really loved changkyun. if he could, he would repay the younger with everything, even with the world. that's how much hyungwon loves his friend.

"you need to get the surgery."

''what?"

"hyungwon, please,"  changkyun pleads, his eyes full of worry and sadness. hyungwon had never seen changkyun like this before. "w-why? can i don't?" hyungwon was flabbergasted. the surgery was the last thing hyungwon has thought about. he knew that the surgery would be the only way to solve it but he didn't want to stop loving hoseok. he really didn't want to. the surgery would remove the disease which only means his feelings for the boy would vanish as well.

"n-no! please, changkyun! i-i'll avoid hoseok! i don't want to—"

"what is avoiding hoseok going to do, hyungwon? don't want you to die! hyungwon, i know you love him but is it really worth risking your life like that? you'll really die in a month!" changkyun exclaimed, his unrestrained tears trickling down his face.

this is why hyungwon feels like a damn burden. he has done nothing but hurt his best friend with all his problems and make him worry about it. "i'm so sorry changkyun.."

"instead of avoiding, you should spend more time with him before your time is up." changkyun states as he stood there with his head low.
