Suddenly, my eyes opened back up and I yelped as an ear-tearing shriek resonated in the thick air. It was suddenly hard to breathe and I suffocated as I felt as if my lungs were burning like liquid gold. I closed my eyes for a while, trying to compose myself. When the pain subsided, I took a deep breath and my eyelids fluttered wide awake. The whole room where resided the Consul's chairs, which used to shine a green hue because of the emerald it's built in, but now it glows of a gold atmosphere. For no other Angel did it beam so brightly.
Everyone's mouth was agape and I was as shocked as they were. When my gold aura slowly dissipated, one word was pronounced.
"Angel."
Before I stepped down the pedestal, Witch Sylvester held back my arm and whispered in my ear.
"Be careful."
Silence. "Next up, Lilith Tanagers." Faery.
Throughout the ceremony, Witch Sylvester kept sending long glances my way. I tried to look away, partly feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable. Many more names were called until...
"Caspian Velasq and Zachary Velasq."
I couldn't believe my ears, Caspian was Zach's twin!?
There they were on the pedestal, in black combat suits. They were breathtakingly beautiful, the way they did not need to speak to oose confidence and charm was slightly impressive. Then again, they were vampires.
Witch Sylvester gracefully put his two hands on the crown of the boys' heads, chanting a spell quickly in a beautiful Ambrosian.
The first to have had their god recognize them was Zach, golden holographic wings flapped and spread light. I smiled slightly, of course, the Angel had chosen him. Turning to Caspian- even his name made me scowl- I frowned noticing that his head was still bowed. The camera's closed in, this being another one of the most intense parts of this ceremony.
Suddenly, his eyes went bright purple and momentarily, I could see scintillating scriptures dancing around his tall, lean frame. A dark cloak graced his shoulders, moving in the sudden gust of wind. An unbelieving gasp erupted from my throat, I smiled, amazed.
Witch.
As I recalled what Zach had told me in the Gardenia, they were, in fact, two polar opposites. Like light and darkness, sun and moon.
Both of them were now two of the three people who were chosen by different gods other than their own, the last person being Malik Hennings who was an ex-werewolf. His ceremony was wildly frowned upon: he lost most of his sponsors when he was called to be a part of the Vampire clan, the Werewolves greatest enemy.
It was usually considered a case of treachery but in that exact moment, I couldn't admire the twins more. Together, they were thriving in the so-called indecency and merely seemed bothered by it. They were the portrayal of young fierceness. The paparazzi went crazy over the Velasq twins, camera flashes and loud exclamations filling the room.
For one reason or another, a part of me started idolizing them too.
