Wash Away

I wish I could wash away my mistakes,
and those dark tracks they left behind.
I washed them under cold water,
hallucinating that they did grow fainter.
I rubbed them with soothing body wash,
yet instead, a line of soap paired beside each of them.
I immersed them in running water again,
but they seemed more defined then at first.
I could only hide them under my sleeves,
away from sight away from people.
Then I realized they would fade
along with the cuts that need healing-
eventually, over time, like they've always did.
So I don't have to wash away my feelings
and mistakes don't define.
It's alright.
