I'm Not Sure What Happened

chapter 21

I wake up to Jack slightly shaking the both of us. I slowly sit up and Alex does the same. We both get up grabbing our stuff and follow behind Jack. My dad along with William and Officer Moore walk in front of all of us. We grab our bags from the conveyor belt. We then head outside. We stop at a blue van.

"We're going to be taking this all together to the house." Says Officer Moore opening the driver's door.

Alex and I climb into the back. Our dad's sit right in front in the two seats that we're separated in the middle. Jack climbs in to the passengers seat and the Officer Moore starts the car. We all get buckled in and we head down the road. I was still tired from the plane but I force myself to stay awake. Alex look tired two as he stares out the window. Once we get to the house we go straight inside with our things.

"You two look really tired. We're going to be in for a while in one of the bedrooms so you two might as well stay in the same one." Says Officer Moore.

I don't argue and neither does Alex. We go into a bedroom which has two beds along with a bathroom connecting. I set down my stuff at the end of the bed and fall onto my bed. I was too tired to change into pajamas and kick off my shoes onto the floor. Alex just chuckles pulling out shorts and a t-shirt for him.

"You can change in hear while I go and change in the bathroom."

I finally slide to the end of the bed and she shuts the bedroom door for me. I pull out shorts and a tank top. He goes into the bathroom and I quickly change.

"You done?" Yells Alex through the bathroom door.

"Yeah!" I yell back.

I lay back down on the bed staring at the ceiling.

"Wow, are you really so tired that you can't even put a blanket on you." He say with a smile.

I just sigh realizing that my blanket was at the end of the bed. Alex picks it up and throws it at my face. I pull it off and get into the covers and put my blanket around my shoulders. I lay back down holding the blanket tightly around me. I watch as Alex gets into his bed and pulls the blankets over him. I close my eyes as I hear him on occasion shifting. Finally it goes quiet expect the quiet talking from across the hall. I slowly drift off to sleep.

I get scared awake by the sound of something falling. I quickly sit up and look over to Alex. He was already climbing out of bed to go see what it was. I slid out as he gets to the door. I quickly go over to him before he opens the door. He slowly opens is and walks out as I follow right behind. We make our way to our dad's room. The door was cracked open and the light was still on. I stay right behind Alex as he slowly opens the door. I look over his shoulder to see my dad was William with Jack and Officer Moore. They all turn to look at us as I slowly move right by Alex.

"Oh, I'm sorry, did we wake you two up?" says officer Moore.

"We just heard something fall." says Alex.

"Oh yeah I accidentally knocked over a pile of books off of the table." says Jack.

"Well you two should go back to bed. You still look exhausted." says Officer Moore.

Alex and I leave closing the door behind us but leaving it a crack open. We both head back to our room and climb into our beds. I pull the blanket around me while trying to fall asleep. I just couldn't fall asleep but I felt tired. I finally give up and grab my phone off of the nightstand. I put in my earbuds and turn on my phone. I start scrolling thru the music until I find my parents songs. I press play and quietly listen to it at first and then start slowly humming to it. I lean up against my pillows sitting up. Sooner or later I'm singing to it quietly. Finally I drift off to sleep listening to the music.
