Chapter Eight

*Harry’s POV*

“Well I don’t know how to say this but, I was the one who put you and Rachel together for the pen pal assignment.”

Niall looked like a deer in the headlights. His face showed complete shock and he seemed completely speechless. I wouldn’t blame him if I found out that his own best friend set me and this random girl up as pen pals.

“You WHAT?!”

“I set you and Rachel up as pen pals for her assignment, mate.”

“But how?”

-Flashback-

I was walking through the empty school searching for room 246. Earlier, I had talked to my cousin who had said that his teacher Mrs. Martin had assigned them a pen pal assignment. That’s when a bright light bulb went off in my head.

It was 6:55 in the morning and the halls were empty; not even the school janitor was roaming them. I had my disguise on just in case anybody else was here. But the only people I had suspected to be here were only Mrs. Martin and me. My cousin told me that she always came in early to do some stuff.

I finally found a door with the numbers 246 plastered on it. Looking through the door window, I saw a woman maybe in her early fifties was writing some things on the blackboard.

I knocked on the door and walked on in. She turned around and was startled by my presence. “Excuse me but what are you doing here this early?”

“Erm, I don’t know if you know me, but I’m in this band One Direction. I have a disguise on right now so maybe that’s why you don’t recognize me,” I said pointing towards my beanie and my fake mustache and goatee.

“Oh, well what do you want?” She said sharply. Ouch, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

“Well I heard from my cousin that you’re doing a pen pal assignment, correct?”

She gave me a weird look. “Yes, why?”

“Well after my cousin told me everything about this assignment, I thought of one of my fellow band mates who’s been going through a rough time and needs someone to talk to. I figured, why not assign him with someone in your class to get his mind off of things? Please consider it Miss, I really want to help him because lately he hasn’t been acting like his old self.”

“Sounds like one of my own students if you ask me…” she muttered.

“Excuse me?”

“Well I have a student who is always complaining about how her family is tough on her and she has no friends, blah blah blah. I think of it as she’s just using that as an excuse to get out of homework.”
