The next week Tuesday I head into the kitchen to look for a snack or at least something to eat. I just stand there on my toes trying to see all that's in the cupboard. I jump and scream when I feel hands on my waist. I quickly turn around to see Alex smiling.

"Don't ever scare me like that again!"

"I didn't mean to scare you...I just wanted to know if you would like to go on a picnic with me."

"Where will we be going?"

"To the lake. It's not far from here. I already got everything packed two."

"I would love to."

I then go and grab my sandals and pull them on. Alex picks up a picnic basket and takes my hands. We go outside and we start walking down the side of the road. We finally turn down a small dirt path that leads over to the lake. Once we get to the lake Alex lets go of my hand and starts laying out the blanket that he was carrying. He starts pulling out some snacks and then sits down on the blanket.

"You gonna sit down?" asks Alex while pulling off his jacket.

I had decided that day to wear shorts and one of my tank tops that were meant for pajamas or the gym. Luckily it wasn't to cold out and was bearable. I sit down by Alex and we both start eating. After a while he stands up and holds his hand out to me. I wasn't sure where we're going but I just take his hand and follow. We head over to the dock and walk out onto it. I lean up against the wood railing and face Alex.

"I just thought it would be fun to bring you out where."

"I like it."

Alex smiles, "I knew you would."

I hear cracking behind me and suddenly I'm falling backwards into the water. The water was freezing and I go to breath in forgetting that I was underneath the water. I'm suddenly pulled up out of the water and start coughing from the water that I had breathed in. I realize I'm on the dock again and Alex is holding me. I finally stop coughing and just sit there breathing heavily. Alex then has me stand up with him and leads me back over to where are stuff is.

I could feel myself shaking from the cold wind that had started to blow. Alex picks up the blanket and wraps it around me. Alex has me sit down on his lap and I bury my face in his chest. He holds me tightly while rubbing my back. I look up to see Alex staring back at me with worry in his eyes.

"A-Alex" I say through chattering teeth.

"Yeah?"

"T-thanks for s-saving me from t-the l-lake."

"I wish that the railing didn't break and you never fell in the lake in the first place."

"But t-theres nothing you c-could of done about t-that."

Alex looks away from me and then says, "we should probably get you back to the house so you can get warm."

I just nod my head and we both get up. Alex takes the now wet blanket and gives me his jacket. I put it on and zip it up. I could feel the warmth from it already. Alex then picks up the basket and puts his arm around me. Once we get back to his house I get changed into war pajamas and pull my senior sweater on. I go back out to the living room to see that Alex had changed two inot sweatpants and the same sweater. I sit down next to him and pull the blanket from the back of the couch over me. Alex puts his arm around me again and I lean into him.

"What happened?" I hear William ask.

"Olivia fell into the lake."

"Are you okay?"

I answer before Alex can, "Yeah, I'm fine. Where's my dad?"

"He had to head to your house with Mr. Briggs and Benjamin."

"Okay." I curl up closer to Alex and close my eyes until I fall asleep.

I wake up later on when my dad is walking with with Mr Briggs and Jay. I sit up and Alex let's go of me.

"Hey dad," I say turning to face him.

"Hey sweetie, so I need to talk to you."

"Okay."

He comes over and kneels down in front of me. "So I have had the three songs that we got recorded published. I thought it would be better if I end up not recording anymore I would want to get these published."

"You can't give up singing."

"I never said I was giving up singing. They had been wanting to publish this for a while."

"But you just said that you may not be recording anymore."

"Olivia, I'll never give up singing. I just don't know if I will be songwriting anymore. I haven't come to an answer yet."

"Okay...I'm not going to argue about you quitting songwriting because I know it's your choice not mine. Your just really good at songwriting."

"I know and you could be two. I will try to keep writing music but we'll see where this goes."

"Okay," I say with a smile. My dad gets up and leaves the room.
