I awoke suddenly to the clanging of a tin cup on the metal cell bars. 'What is that? Ugh...where am I?' And then I remembered. My heart began pounding and my entire being tensed up. I remembered lord Amasa's statement. You'll regret your decision.  'Oh mother, I wish you were here and I could embrace you warmly and you to take me home!' I crawled back into my corner and huddled in it's edges. As I did a white rat scurried across the hay strewn floor. "Hey..." I whispered. The rat stopped suddenly and stood on its hind legs to sniff the surroundings. Then, seeing it was only me, continued hurridly on its course. Soon after I heard the clapping of shoes against the stairs of the dungeon. Quickly I brushed my hand through my now extremely tangled hair and wiped the dirt off my face with the corner of my tunic. To my surprise, the heavty gaurd with his dangling longsword strolled solemnly by my cell with not a word. I raced to the rusty bars to get a better look as to what he was doing.

"Get up ye li'l brat. Master wants to see you." I heard his raspy voice order.

'Alex? He's alive?!' I considered. Listening even closer for his voice, I heard him groan wearily. "Alex." I whispered to myself. I went back to my corner and pretended to be asleep and opened my eyes in time to see ragged and dirty Alexander with bags underneath his eyes from sleeplessness drop a piece of cloth in my cell. Thankfully, the gaurd didn't notice being in front pulling Alex along with metal handcuffs. He smiled slightly and stumbled on. I smiled sympatheticly  and waved. 'Bye' I mouthed.

As soon as they were out of sight I hurridly grabbed the piece of cloth. Unfolding it's creases I saw black charcoal markings.
