As I shoved the last peice of furniture from the door I felt like I was giving up my life. For I had made up my mind that I would never tell lord Amasa where the treasury was, even though it was quite simple. I felt like they were being foolish. Nonetheless, I opened the door. Its for Alex. Do it for Alex. I repeated those phrases over and over in my mind assuring myself it was the right thing to do.
Finally the splintering door was thrown open and into the cellar came five broad shouldered and armed men. Their faces were stone cold as if nothing could get in thier way. "Hah! Thought you could get away didn't you, ye li'l blighter." The smallest croaked in my ear. I swallowed down the feeling of bitter anger I had for him, for all of these people! I wanted to get away so much! Its for Alex. Do it for Alex. I took a deep breath. After my skinny wrists were tied with thick and prickly rope I was prodded, with points of spears and butts of rifles, down the eerie halls. Everything here had an eeriness to it.
After what seemed like an eternity, he came to a stop at a ginormous door. It's bronze hinges were about six feet long and its entire height was about thirty feet. Upon arriving two fully armored gaurds of the door reached for the bronze handles and with a mighty pull, opened the door.
My heart sank as the doors slowly opened. I beheld a massive room with tall timberframe ceiling. As my eyes scanned down I saw the stone walls were covered with fine tapestries, probably part of plunders from seiges. What really made my heart skip a beat in fright was the torturing devices that lined from wall to wall, covering the entire floor. As one single tear slipped down my tight face I whispered to myself, Its for Alex. Do it for Alex.
Soon a dark haired man dressed in fine clothing entered through a side door. After unrolling a scroll he read with his deep, echoing voice. "All bow for lord Amasa." As everyone, except me, bowed, lord Amasa entered with his long, fur-trimmed, velvet robe trailing behind him. His long fingers bore several gold and jeweled rings. These fingers clasped a gold studded walking stick, not because he needed it but because, I assume, he thought it gave him some sort of authority. As the tears rolled down my silent face he approached me calmly with a creepy smile on his face.
"Hello...princess." This last word was spat out in scorn. "these men tell me you've tried to escape me." he chuckled. "Well, you know that will never happen. I have eyes everywhere. No one prisoner has or ever will escape me. Understand?" He asked. I kept my eyes locked upon his black leather boots. His rough hand clasped my chin and briskly brought it up to his. As I looked angrily into his grey eyes he bellowed into my own breath, "DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"
"No." I stated.
"Rah!" He barked as he threw my entire being upon the stone ground. When my head hit the ground I blacked out for a minute. I tried to regain my balance but lord Amasa kicked his hard boot upon my frail back, popping it. I groaned in pain as he repeated his question. "Do you understand?!"
"I could have escaped." I croaked. "But I didn't."
"Hah! Likely story." He scoffed.
"I'm doing it for-" I couldn't finish my sentance for Amasa thudded his foot upon my back once more sending a searing pain up my back.
"You will have no honor for your torture! You could not have escaped and that is final!"
In my mind I disagreed whole-heartedly but I had to agree so I wouldn't be more tortured than I had to be.
"Yes lord Amasa." I muttered. UGH. How I hated saying those words.
"That's more like it." He said coldly. His foot left my back and I was lifted to my feet by two of the gaurds. "Now." Amasa stated, "I only ask that you answer one simple question--where is the treasury?"
I was silent. In doing this I recieved a mighty slap to the face with the tip of his walking stick which stung like sting of ten bees.
"I'll ask you again. Where is the treasury?" He demanded.
"Like I said, Amasa, I will never tell you." I said with a tremble.
With utter rage bursting from his body, he roared, "So be it."
With these last words lord Amasa flicked his hand in the air as if to say, dismissed. It felt like a death sentence.
