Take a Swing

Part 1

*Authors note: This first chapter is just to get a feel for the character's perspective of the situation.

I have been working for this moment since the first day of my senior year of high school. Nerves had been consuming me the whole entire day. I know i'm deserving of this position, they would realize that too... Right?

"Miss Amelia Johnston?"

"That's me!" I say as I jump up from my seat.

"Mr. Attanasio will see you now" she says as she leads me down a long hallway.

She opens the door and sits at a desk holds Mark Attanasio, the manager of the Milwaukee Brewers.

"Hello ugh... Miss Amelia Johnston, correct?"

"Yes sir!" I replied way too cheery.

"So you went to school at the University of Northern Iowa?"

"Yes." I answered.

"And it was there where you studied Multimedia Journalism?"

"Yes, One of the best schools for it!"

"I see, now tell me a little bit about yourself and why you think this job is perfect for you."

"Well, I was born and raised in Missouri, grew up as a Kansas City Royals fan, but as a teen I definitely strayed away from them after 2015. That's actually when I fell in love with the Brewers. I held a job in college as the social media/photographer of the Iowa Cubs, the Milb team in Iowa. I've been searching for a job ever since to broaden my horizons, and luckily saw you guys were hiring."

"Wow, you actually do seem like the most qualified and best fit for this position. If I were to offer you the job today, when would you be able to start?"

Life was going perfectly according to plan.
