boredom

My eyes flit to each and every person in the room. They're all in white, a color best worn for this occasion. Most of these guests are elderly, yet every single one of them had their necks craned over their smartphones.

I was shocked, but not surprised.

The clock ticked drearily. My own white dress was plain. It lacked any jewels or lace to pick at so any hope for that was lost. I ached from bending my back for so long, but no other position gave me comfort. My mom was meant to sit next to me, but she ditched me for a little gossip time with her sister in law. I had nothing.

My father sat in front of me, chatting away. The engagement was supposed to start three long hours ago.

'Stupid Ghanaians and their lack of punctuality'

I pressed my back to the chair, feeling absolutely sore. It digged into my back, sending unease down my spine. I whimpered and leaned forward again.

I tried to fan myself with a pamphlet. Was this room getting hotter?

My dad's eyes met mine, and I froze. He would have scolded me saying "You're in the midst of people. Stop acting childish."

Instead of nervously looking away from his cold stare, I gave him a glare, letting him know how disappointed I was with his relatives. I watched the clock again, and let out a huge sigh.

Stupid Ghanaians and their lack of punctuality.

Typed this out while at a function with my parents. I was super bored and the people were taking soooo long to arrive. And then I got mad hehe.
