Orvyn had often wondered how love felt like. All she knew about it was that it was a product caused by different hormones in the hypothalamus such as dopamine, norepinephrine, oxytocin and vasopressin.
Love was a complicated thing Science hadn't completely understood yet, neither did she.
All she knew was that she liked the feeling of it. It was like feeling every good thing and not-so good ones at the same time.
It made sense why some people go crazy, figuratively and sometimes literally, because of love. It was like sailing in an ocean that promised no safety but the idea of what was waiting after the journey made the sailing aswoon.
She didn't really know the extent of her feelings for Desmond but she knew her feelings grew the more the days passed.
He coughed.
What she felt was that kind of nervousness that would make people want to scream at the top of their lungs and run a mile.
The butterflies in her stomach was a depiction of that. She could even feel the sensation on her head as if it happened a few seconds back.
Desmond was making her even more insane and if she were to approach insanity, she would want to embrace it if he were the reason.
"Do you want to go back?" he asked. "Baka may gagawin ka pa. Do you have exams?"
Nilingon niya ito bago nagkibit-balikat. "Ten minutes," she said, "please?"
"Okay."
"Okay."
At muli na namang namayani ang katahimikan.
She wanted to feel his presence a little longer. It was comfort for her, the kind of comfort she found in no one else. She liked being around with him where she didn't need to say anything for him to understand the weight of her thoughts.
She even wondered whether Desmond was a psychic. He didn't talk much in public but when he did when they were alone, he always knew what to say. Even the silly things he said made sense for Orvyn.
Most of the time, he knew what was happening and what was about to happen. Who would've thought he would visit her coincidentally during the time when she needed help?
Orvyn couldn't help but think that he might be a fairy that was sent from the skies. She didn't believe in fairies but the existence of Desmond somehow stirred her beliefs with the supernatural.
Baka nga nababaliw na siya.
"Des," she said.
"Hmm?"
