Chapter 5: The New Girl

"W-what? Wait?!" Ben shouted confused.

"Jip" Carl said popping the 'p' in the word. "She's our guest." She walked forward and extended her hand to him.

"Hi, my names Kai Green nice to meet you" She greeted him smiling. Ben looked at her hand then at her and took it.

"Ben Tennyson" He greeted back and they shook it off. They let go and Kai turns towards Carl.

"Which room, Mr. Tennyson?" She asked calmly in a polity voice.

"Please call me Carl," He said scratching the back of his head not wanting to feel old already. "In the hall left you will see a door at the end. That's your room." 

"Thanks" She replied taking her bags and walking down the hall winking at Ben. He still looked confused and looked at the old Tennyson's.

"Grandpa, please explain?" Ben asked Max who sat down on a nearby chair.

"She's my old friend's granddaughter and has moved her cause he wants her to live a 'normal life'" He said and Ben sat on the couch with his Dad on a chair next to Max.

"Yeah and she gonna be in the same school as you, Ben," Carl said giving him a thumbs up and weird look.

"Right," Ben said in a lazy voice laying back on the couch staring his Dad and Granddad down. Carl looked at the clock and quickly shot up.

"Crap! I told them I would be there at four" He said grabbing his keys and jacket and heading for the door. "Bye Dad, Ben. Oh and listen to your mother when you get home!" He yelled and left the two there. Ben waved at his Dad and turned to his Grandpa again but this time staring him down hard.

"The truth Grandpa" Ben demanded giving the old man daggering glares.

"Well actually I'm your partner," Kai said scaring Ben off the couch. She giggled at him then walked in front of him. Ben got back to the couch and giving her a cold look.

"Don't do that" Ben said and she held her hands up in surrender not wanting to piss off the Omnitrix user. "Wait? Partner?" It hit him now as he looked at his grandpa looking away casually. "Why do I need a partner Grandpa?" He asked the elder man.

Max laughed sheepishly and looked at him. "Ben your still inexperienced in battle and you need someone to back you up when the time comes," He said. Ben raised his hands but Max continued. "Gwen won't always be there to help she has her own problems to sort out, you know."

What Max said was the trued and Gwen was busy studying magical arts and learning the language. In the past two weeks, she's been doing that and her school work at the same time and was not even burning out. Ben was busy learning his aliens and sometimes his school work. Ben sighed knowing his Grandpa was telling the truth. He turned to Kai knowing that she will be in his class too and the guys will go wild with her as well. The rooms was in silent now and they heard footsteps and saw Gwen with glasses reading an ancient magical book. She walked to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle from the fridge and sat down by the table. She felt uncomfortable and looked up and saw them all looking at her. Her eyes turned to Max then Ben and last to Kai.

"You must be Kai Green right?" She asked and Ben was shocked. "I'm Gwen Tennyson it's nice to meet you." She smiled at her.

"You too, Gwen" She replied and Ben quickly got up.

"Wait you know her Gwen?" Ben asked her. Gwen closed her book and took off her glasses.

"Of course, Grandpa told me," She said smiling tilting her head. Ben was speechless and turned to his Grandpa really slowly.
