Chapter 8: The Arrival Part 3

Kai and Gwen made their way towards the engine room and it was massive. The room was dark-red with the engine core in the middle glowing bright yellow.

"There it is!" Kai said as Gwen nodded and lifts her staff up. She closes her eyes and concentrates for a minute. There was no one in the engine room just them, odd. Gwen opens her eyes again and looks at Kai. She sighed in relief and Gwen lets her staff down.

"We're alone," She said and Kai took off her backpack from her shoulders and placed it down onto the ground. She then took out a small ball like an explosive device and showed it to Gwen. "That's it? It's so small," She said and Kai giggled at this a little and packed them away.

"These are Plumber-based Level 3 tech Grenades which is said it can blow up the entire Plumber Base with these," She then looks at the engine core and back to Gwen. "We just have to set the time and boom! Bye-bye aliens," She said and winked to Gwen.

"Easier said than done, Kai," Gwen said as she outstretched her hand and a pink aura surrounded it. The bag in Kai's hand glowed pink as it started floating out of her hands and into the air. "I'll place it around engine core while you scout for enemies," She explained and opened the bag as the grenades flew out.

"Alright, be careful Gwen," She told her as Gwen gave her a slight nod and moved to engine core as she then placed them all around them carefully.

Kai was then holding her duel blaster and looking at the hallway they came from seeing nothing as Kai looked back at Gwen and then the hallway again. She looked at the hallway so intently she saw a purple blur coming from one corner to another. She blinked for a sec as she moved to check it out. She looked back at Gwen seeing her looking around then she checked the first corner seeing nothing.

Was her mind playing tricks on her? No, she was more skilled than this. She then looked around her eyes scanning the hallway as she finally saw something placed on the wall. She moved towards it as her body suddenly got flung forward into the wall. She quickly turned around and saw a punched coming towards her face knocking her out as the unknown individual was now walking towards Gwen holding a gun in hand.

The person wears dark purple colored armor and wields laser guns. The person has notably x-shaped eye holes which are pink. The person was much smaller the same height as Gwen or maybe shorter. The person silently walked behind and aimed her gun at Lucky Girl as the person pulled the trigger and the laser was shot.

Gwen heard the gun being fired turning around and was faced with a laser coming at her fast. She crossed her arms making an X with her arms as a pink shield was created blocking the laser. The individual was shocked at this and pulled another blaster. Gwen seeing this focused her mana in her staff and fired her own laser towards her opponent.

The individual saw this and dodge by hiding by a pillar as the laser passed their head they cursed. They come out and started firing at Gwen rapidly cause her to hid as she got a look at the individual and saw it to be a girl. 'Great! Now an assassin is trying to kill us! Wait?! Kai!?' Her thoughts were interrupted as the female assassin was seen flying above Gwen and fired lasers at her.

Gwen with her reflexes kicking in rolled out of the way and shot her own laser through the staff as it was becoming second nature to her. The assassin dodged the lasers and landed onto the ground hiding from Gwen quickly as she heard another mana blast coming.

"Dammit! Where's Kai?" She asked herself as she then closed her eyes looking for Kai's mana signature. At first, she couldn't find it then she found a faint signature which can only mean it's her. 'But why is it so faint?' She asked herself hearing talking snapping her out of her thoughts.
