"Ready, kid?" Tony asked, checking the various buttons and switches, making sure everything was in place. I had some idea of what I was about to get myself into, but nothing could've prepared me for what was about to happen.
Was I truly ready? There was no way to tell. Sure, I'd decided to subject myself to some of Tony's experiments before, but nothing like this. THIS was potentially life-changing.
"Well... I'm as ready as I'll ever be, Mr. Stark." I was in my suit, which I'd insisted on wearing. It was familiar. Memories of all the times I'd gone out for patrol wearing this came flooding back. Swinging through Queens, stopping criminals... There was nothing better.
I'd be back home soon enough. Back to school, patrol, my friends. I could stay there as long as I wanted, and only five minutes would pass.
Who knew a life could change in only five minutes?
"Safe travels, kid." He flipped a switch and I was gone.
A flash of light. The sound of my own heartbeat. My palms sweating. Every emotion I could experience in a single instant.
There I was. Sat on the top bunk in an apartment. And yet... Something was off.
