He smelled like vanilla and cigarettes.

His eyes were as blue as the ocean.

He was everything she ever wanted.

She loved everything about him,

The way he would bite his lip and furrow his eyebrows as he read a book.

The way he would hum as he cooked.

She loved the way he walked , and the way he talked.

She smelled like coffee and flowers.

Her eyes were as brown and milky as the coffee she drank every morning.

He loved everything about her,

The way she would get excited over the littlest of things.

The way her nerdy side would come out.

Or the way she would talk and gesture with her hands.

He loved when she'd tell the most random things.

But what he loved the most,

Was her smile.

Her smile could light up a room.

When she smiled, so would everyone else.

It was contagious.

As he sat the roses down, which were her favorite flowers.

He looked at the grave and held back his tears.

He knew that the words that were about to come out of his mouth would be said too late.

He got down on the ground to be eye level with the stone,

And he quietly whispered.

"The truth is, I love you."

His voice cracked at the last three words.

The three words he never had the courage to say.
