It's can cause paralysis or poison the enemy enough to slow them down. She can also put the poison on her claws. Yes if too much is used she could accidently hurt or even kill her opponent. She hasn't yet, but she told ladybug,

B/S: leaving school one day, she tripped over something and fell into an alleyway. (Because when cartoon/anime characters fall, it's over exaggerated) and found a small box with a lock on it. She took it home and picked the lock, opening up to a wrist band that soon started to glow grey, before the Kwomi, Venom. He explained every thing. This was only a week after ladybug and cat noir appeared. She trained using their powers for a week, learning how to use the abilities and how much poison to use without killing.
After that talk with Ladybug and "kitten" ,as she calls him, they faught even harder to keep Paris safe.
