1 YEAR LATER (SOPHIE IS 18)

I put on a white t-shirt, it had the logo of my work place.

I put on a jacket to try and cover it up. The jacket was green with checkers, and I had some old jeans on.

"I'm going out!" I shout to my brother.

Ever since our mother passed away a month ago, he hasn't come out of his room.

It was hard on us both, but he took it worse.

I've had to work multiple jobs just to keep the house.

I wanted to become a nurse, like my mom.

I walked out of the house and started walking to the party.

I walked past the hundreds of people in the streets.

They might be walking home, maybe to their husband/wife maybe they have kids.

Maybe they're divorced, or widowed.

Maybe they live alone, maybe they're depressed, happy, rich, poor maybe they are in love, or maybe heartbroken.

I come to the place and walk inside.

The place already reaks of alcohol and sweat.

People dancing and drinking, Jake comes over to me.

"Sophie! You look GREAT" He says.

I nod, I put on way to much makeup to try and cover the circles under my eyes.

I hadn't gotten a lot of sleep since she died.

"Come on let's DANCE" He says laughing.

We start dancing, I used to love dancing.

Tears fall down my face as I remember my mother teaching me how to dance.

"Come on sweetheart" my mother in courageous.

I nod smiling, as I walk over to the rest of the girls on my dance team.

"Ready?" I ask them, they all nod also smiling.

The music starts.

I start dancing, moving my body gracefully to the beat.

(You don't have to watch the whole thing, or any of it at all it's just if you want to)

When we finished my mom came over to me.

"You were great"

"Is something wrong?" Jake asked, looking concerned.

Tears were streaming down my face.

I nodded.

"Hey what's this..." he asked going to remove my jacket so you can see the company name.

I smack his hand away and run outside.

I shouldn't have come, I'm not ready.

I run home, I just wanted a normal life.
