We flew along for what seemed like a few seconds. We then came to a grinding halt.
"Sorry about that," Switch told us both. "I should have warned you that would happen. Now, please, stand up."
Pat and I carefully stood up. My legs felt really wobbly. Pat didn't look too good, either.
"Here's our destination!" Switch told us both. "Take a look!"
I walked to the window and immediately gasped in awe.
I could see what looked like a giant suburb with lots of houses with a view that showed no signs of stopping! They all looked pretty small, though.
"This," Switch explained, "is Gamers' HQ. It's where every gamer in The Gaming Universe lives!"
"Wow!" was all I could say. "But don't you think these houses are a bit small?"
Switch and Pat just laughed.
"Ever see Doctor Who?" Switch asked.
"Yeah...?"
"Let's just say these houses are like a TARDIS; they're bigger on the inside."
"That's cool!"
"Don't you mean... Awsome?"
I just gave a small chuckle in response.
"Now then," Switch continued, "let's see where YOU will be staying!"
The ship then began to move again, only this time at a reasonable pace. We began flying over so many houses full of gamers just like me. I wonder if some of the famous ones were here...? Would they even know about this place??
"Here we are!" Switch said as we slowly lowered.
When we landed in the street, I could see a house that looked just like the others right in front of me; however, this one had a sign in front that read "Reserved for Awsome2464".
"Welcome home," Switch said with a smile. "Go on, check it out!"
A giant door in the ship opened up, revealing a path onto the street. I ran off the contraption and right to the front door. I then exhaled as I pushed the door open.
Inside, I saw a massive room, much bigger than the exterior of the house. The room, however, was white as snow and there was no furniture inside.
"I know it's not much right now," Switch admitted as he and Pat walked towards the house, "but it'll look better in time. Because, after all, you get to decide the interior design!"
"What do you mean?"
"There's a shop in town where you can buy furniture and walls for your home!"
"Wait, BUY?"
"Hey, people still gotta live."
"How do I buy things?"
"With Game Bucks, our currency in this world."
"How do I get those?"
"By getting a job."
"A JOB?!"
"It's actually not that bad," Pat explained. "I got a job at a pizza place and I'm doing fine."
"A pizza place? In a universe full of video games?" I asked.
"We're still human, Awsome," she replied.
"Anyway," Switch cut in, "we gave you a bed and a mini fridge full of food to get you started out."
"How considerate."
"But I can assure you that you don't just want Game Bucks for furniture."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean you spend the money on tickets to get you to other game worlds!"
"Really?!"
"Yep! One Game Buck for any game world you wish! Just head to the station in town and pick your destination!"
"That's Awsome!"
"See, now you're getting it!"
"Hey, Pat," I asked. "Where do you live in this world?"
"You're not going to believe this," she replied with a smile. "I'm right next door!"
"Really? Was that planned?"
"It sure was! I made sure you got a house near me!"
"Sweet!"
"Well, Mr. 2464," Switch told me. "Do you think you got everything?"
"I think so," I replied.
"Good! Then I'll be on my way now! Ms. Vader here will help you if you need anything else."
"Thanks, Switch!"
"Any time, Awsome. Any time."
He then left the house, leaving me and Pat alone in my new home.
"Here," she said as she reached into her pocket. "This should be enough to help you get started."
She then pulled out what looked like a wad of silver paper and gave it to me. I looked at it and saw it was simply a stack of silver paper rectangles with the number 1 on each of them.
"That's 20 Game Bucks," she explained. "It's not much, but it's something!"
"Thanks," I replied with a smile. "You know, I never thought this is where I'd see you in person again."
"Well, me neither," she replied. "But I'm glad we did! Now we can see each other whenever we want!"
"I'd love that!"
"Yeah...oh!"
She then glanced and her watch and gasped.
"I gotta go to work," she said. "I'll come by after my shift to see how you're doing."
"Sounds good to me!"
"Alright! See ya at 9!"
She then left my new home, leaving me alone. I looked around the place with awe. I still wanted to believe this was a dream...but I'm glad it wasn't.
And I could tell that this was definitely going to be an Awsome life.
Ok, guys! These first few chapters were just a prologue to the series. My goal is to make it like a weekly TV series and have one part be like an episode. The details will be worked out soon, but I hope to stay constant with it!
