I had just completed the Saints Tutorial missions and was about to start the first Ronin mission when my mom called me upstairs. I paused the game and went up. She was at the kitchen, and she did not look happy.
"Can you explain this?" She asked as she pointed at her computer screen.
I took a look at it and saw it was one of her weekly emails from the school showing my grades and missing assignments. Needless to say, the grades were low and the missing assignments were endless.
"And that's just THIS WEEK!" She continued. "Well, what do you have to say?"
I just shrugged.
"I want a verbal answer!"
"I don't know," I said quietly. "I just forgot."
"You do that a lot... yet you remember everything that happened in that game you played last week after playing it ONCE!"
"But it was a great game with a great story!"
"I don't want to hear it! You're grounded until you get these grades up and these assignments turned in!"
"Mom...!"
"I don't want to hear it! I want all controllers and systems on this counter in five minutes or it's an automatic 6 months!"
I silently sighed and went back into the basement. I couldn't believe she would do this to me! On a Saturday, even! These games were my escape from reality, from the problems in the world...
I stopped in my tracks. There was one possible way past this.
I took out my phone and looked at the messages from the unknown source.
"Just reply GAME ON."
What did I have to lose?
I typed the 6 letters in the message bar and pressed 'send'. I honestly wasn't expecting much. That's when there was a bright light flashing and I passed out.
