Bear and Corgo were out in the forest one day, minding their own business when they heard screaming come from nearby.
"Did you hear that bear? Come on! We have to investigate!" Corgo started to run with his stubby little paws.
"Woah" Said Bear as he stood infront of Corgo "We need to be careful! Who knows what's going on!" But Corgo didn't listen and ran off anyway, Bear had to chase him.
They stumbled upon a castle, covered in moss and vines "Th-This looks s-scary..." Corgo started to back up when Bear crashed into him, knocking them both forward onto the two massive wooden doors, a big thud echoed through the forest.
The door suddenly opened and a big duck stood looking down at the two animals "Who dare interrupt King Duckie Duckington?" His voice boomed.
Bear scrambled to his paws and bowed "Forgive me, King Duckie Duckington! My friend Corgo heard screaming and came this way! We're sorry for interrupting and we will be going now!" Bear tried to escape with Corgo but King Duckie put his wing out "HALT!" He shouted.
Bear and Corgo turned around in fear, their bodies shaking. "Guards!" King Duckie shouted as the guards of the castle came quickly running with their spears and swords "Seize them! Lock them in the dungeon!" King Duckie ordered.
Bear and Corgo tried to stop the guards but they were captured and taken to the dungeon under the castle.
Locked behind bars in a cell, Corgo looked out through the window with bars and whined "Bear?" He asked "Will we ever get to go home?"
Bear couldn't say anything, he could reassure Corgo that they would in fact get out because he didn't know what King Ducking would do. "I don't know" Said Bear "I really don't know."
The Dungeon door swung open and King Duckie waddled down the steps. He stopped at a cell with a squirrel inside and demmanded the door be opened.
The guards opened the door and pulled the squirrel out. King Duckie opened his wing and started to slap the red squirrel with his wing, shouting insults here and there as the squirrel cried in pain.
Bear and Corgo were forced to watch and it made them both feel horrible that such a creature could be mean.
"STOP!" Corgo finally shouted. King Duckie wasn't happy and stared at Corgo "What did you just say?!"
"You heard him! Stop it! Why are you so mean! I thought a King was supposed to be nice!" Bear stood next to Corgo, eyes not leaving the Duck's face.
"I'm not being mean!" King Duckie argued "I am setting an example!"
"What example are you setting?! You're hurting your subjects for no reason! That's not what a King does! You have to be kind and help your subjects, love them and keep them safe!" Bear explained.
The scowl that was on the duck's beak finally moved and became a frown "I..... I didn't know what I was doing was so wrong..... So if I am a King I need to keep my subjects safe, help them, love them?" King Duckie asked.
Bear and Corgo nodded with a smile "That's right!" King Duckie sighed and turned to the red squirrel "I am so sorry I hurt you, I will let you go and I will never hurt you or any of my subjects again" King Duckie smiled.
The red squirrel was allowed to go and thanked King Duckie for letting her go, she also said thank you to Bear and Corgo for helping King Duckie.
"So King Duckie" Corgo smiled "Do you think that you could let us go too? It's going to get cold soon and we really need to get home."
King Duckie opened Bear and Corgo's cell and bowed to them "Thank you for helping me, you are always welcome to stay at this castle."
Bear and Corgo bowed back to the King and left, walking out the two big doors. "So, shall we go home?" Corgo smiled "Now I won't stop you on that one" Said bear.
The two walked back into the trees, King Duckie watched them go, and made sure he was a good King.
