Chapter 9
Mark woke up to his alarm beeping and the sun beating on his face. He rubbed his eyes and grabbed his phone. He shut off the alarm and sent Ally a text, he wanted to make sure she was up to check on the food. She replied with in seconds, she was up, that was his concern. He replied, telling her, he would be over shortly. She sent back a smiley face and cya soon. He was excited to see her, it seemed like she's all he thought about these days. Well her and Ricardo, he was spending all his spare time with both of them. He finished getting dressed and started to leave, when he heard his phone beep. It was a text from his mom, she was concerned he would be alone today. Even though, he had assured her that he would not be alone. He hadn't told her too much about Ally, only that he had become friends with a neighbor and he would be at her house. He loved his mother very much, but she could drive him crazy at times. But after talking to Ally about her mom, he was glad she cared enough to nag. He sent her several text reassuring her that he would send pics proving he wasn't alone. He began to walk to Ally's, realizing he had just left a few hours earlier. He couldn't explain why, but the fact that he had spent the night with her in his arms, made him float on air. Nothing happened, they simply slept, but it was very special to him. She was becoming very important to him, and he thought he was becoming important to her. At least he hoped he was, she was just what he needed in his life. He wanted nothing more than to have her around as long as she wanted to stay. He had her keys, so he let himself in.
She was in the dining room when she heard him coming in. She took a quick look in a mirror she had hanging on the wall. Not that it mattered, she thought to herself, he had seen her at her worst this morning. She was embarrassed by him seeing her looking a mess. But apart of her was not worried, she saw how he looked at her. She knew there was something there, but neither one of them had the courage to go there just yet. She knew why she was reluctant, but she wasn't sure why he was. Last night he mentioned a girl, that he really liked, and things not working out. Maybe she was the reason, whatever the reason may be, she didn't want to force anything. If anything was ever going to happen, she knew it would happen naturally. She heard the door shut, so she yelled to him where she was.
He walks to her, as soon as their eyes meet, he feels at ease. He can't believe how beautiful she looks, she fixed her hair differently, she had it pulled up in a twisted bun. There was some sort of decorative rhinestones tucked throughout her hair. She was dressed in an elegant black cocktail dress. She was breathtaking!
"Wow, look at you, you look beautiful." He said. She blushes a little bit, she can feel him, looking through her again, he was good at that.
"Aww thanks, this old thing?" She jokes.
"Seriously, I didn't think it was possible for you to be more beautiful, but wow!" He said. She looked at him for a long time, not able to look away, as if he had her in some sort of trance.
"Well, thank you, I like to get dressed up for holiday dinners. Family tradition you know." She said.
"Well you clean up good kid, real real good." He said. "So what can I do to help, I brought the extra ice, you want it in garage?" He asks. She instructs him where to put it and she continues with her list of things to do. It was still a few hours till everyone was to arrive. But she wanted to make sure everything was perfect. She sees a bakery box on the counter, she opened it, it had four cinnamon buns in it. She smiled, she knew Mark had picked these up at her favorite bakery. He had to of done this yesterday, they were closed today. How thoughtful she thought. He walked back in from the garage, she was smiling at him.
"What did you do? This was so nice of you. See you know the way to my heart, food!" She said with a laugh. He smiled.
"Yeah your friend told me how to heat them up so they would taste their best. Thought you could use them, since you wouldn't have time to make breakfast." He explained. She handed them to him.
