Chapter Seven

(Reason Why)

ALEX

I couldn’t believe how blatantly mine and Cade’s moms were working to set us up. These woman are freaking crazy. We pulled up to the spa at the same time Bella and Aunt Tess pulled in. Sure she’s not really my Aunt. She’s, I guess my second cousin, since she’s dad’s first cousin. But she and Callie, Cade’s mom are the closest thing I have to Aunts.

As soon as I got out of the car Aunt Tess pulled me into a big hug. “Oh my beautiful little niece. I am so sorry about that asshole Travis. I never did like that boy,” She said kissing my cheek before letting me go.

I laughed “Thanks Aunt Tess but really I’m fine. I know now it wasn’t ever really love. It was more the idea of it. Of us. The “it” couple. Everyone always told me how cute we were together. How perfect we were.” I said shrugging.

“Really you guys did seem so perfect together. I guess I thought you were really close.”

“No not really. I wanted us to be but it just never felt right with him.” I looked over to see my mom and Callie share a look. I wonder if their thinking of the virgin thing or if they are still plotting to get Cade and me together. If they only knew.

“Well then maybe this was all for the best. I mean not the way it happened but that you guys aren’t together anymore. Now you are free to be with the one you should be with.”

I shook my head. “Yeah I’ll let you know when I find him,” I said with a smile.

“Maybe you already have. He could be right under your nose and you just haven’t realized it yet,” Callie said shrugging.

I just rolled my eyes and walked into the spa. We were right on time for the appointment mom had called in. So they took us back for massages. They set it up where we were all in the same room side by side. I guess they wanted to be able to chat. I think it would be more relaxing if I had a little peace but I know they’re just trying to cheer me up. The thing is I really didn’t need it. I was doing a lot better than they all thought I would be. I guess I should probably thank Cade for that.

Once we were all on our massage tables Callie started up with her theories again. “So why do you roll your eyes when I say the one for you might be right under your nose?”

“Cal, I know you’re suggesting Cade and don’t get me wrong I think he’s amazing. But I also know how he is with girls and I’m not looking to be another notch on a very long list.”

“Alex, he would never do that to you. He’s going to kill me for telling you this but he’s been in love with you his entire life.”

“No Cal. He might love me but there is no way he could be in love with me.”
