Hello, Detective Maxwell! I know you've been quite busy for the past few days, especially with the case that made you famous. But I've asked the mayor to hand this letter to you. We want you to come to our conference. Why, you ask? We want you to see a real demonstration of our new invention, a time machine! This might sound fake, but I assure you, it's quite real. I must have piqued your curiosity by now so you'll surely come.

Your old friend,
Dr. Andrew Sanchez

I received a letter last week. It was an invitation for a conference. I never wanted to be bothered by such things, but the mayor personally handed it to me and begged for me to come. I agreed, after all, that's what friends are for. But still, one part in the letter disturbs me. "Real demonstration of our new time machine?" He surely does know how to get my attention. And so, I headed to his mansion the next week. But little did I know that this time machine would sprout the biggest mystery I have ever encountered.

The conference was held at Andrew's Garden. As he spoke about how he created the time machine, the audience were listening very carefully, some didn't mind it and kept eating their food. The prime minister was at the front seat, along with his wife.

"I have to say, I do feel out of place here, sir.", Lucy, my assistant, said.

"That's only natural. Anyone would feel out of place in the presence of the Prime Minister.", I responded.

"But it does make me wonder, what did we do to be invited here?",Lucy asked.

"Indeed. But what bothers me the most is the time machine."

"Yes, that too. I wonder if that contraption is the real thing?"

I didn't speak no more. I took a sip on my cup of tea.

"Now, we will have a little break as Dr. Sanchez sets the time machine!", the announcer proudly.....announced.

Lucy kept eating her T-bone steak. Her cute face got my attention. It might have been covered in gravy, yet her face is still outstanding. As soon as she glanced at me, I looked away, looking at the time machine itself.
