{It's been weeks since season 2 release and not a single person has written about best boi Tadano. I hope you enjoy this original story -Mars}
'Sometimes, the people we connect most with aren't the ones who we're meant to be with.'
That's what Tadano thought as he flew high above the clouds piloting his jet. His feelings for Retsuko was the most he ever felt about anyone in his life but with it comes major casualties.
In the end they were just two different people, each with their own goals and ambitions.
She wanted a married life while he wanted to carve the path to a better society. Tadano respected Retsuko's final decision but it made the wealthy donkey sad to know he'll never have the girl he wanted most.
Arriving at the city of Hokkaido, Tadano landed the plane and began to make his way to his favorite ramen place to drown his sorrows.
He sat down at an empty table as one of the waitresses came to take his order, leaving him to his own thoughts once more. He often wondered how Retsuko was handling the break up. Probably much better than he was at least. Whatever she's doing he hopes she'll meet the one that was truly meant for her and has a steady marriage.
As the waitress came back with his order, Tadano reached for his money when the waitress held her hand up in refusal. "No need. Your meal has already been paid for."
The purple donkey looked in disbelief as the waitress explained what had happened. "A-Are you sure? Who paid for it?"
She simply gave a warm smile and pointed to a girl that was seated not too far away. "That nice girl over there offered to cover your meal." With that said, the waitress left to go serve another table. Tadano stared at his ramen then looked in the direction the girl was sitting before deciding to get up and go talk to her.
The restaurant was rather peaceful tonight, not many people go out for ramen so late at this hour. You took a small sip of your drink and continued reading the book you brought with you to further enjoy your meal.
"Hey, mind if i sit?" Suddenly a voice spoke up. When you looked up from your book you were met with a guy wearing a simple hoodie and pants, holding his bowl of ramen. The donkey's expression was a laid-back kind of look.
"O-Oh, of course! Please take a seat." You placed a bookmarker on the page you stopped at and set the book down on the side.
Once he was settled in, he began to speak. "You didn't have to pay for my food you know." It took you a few seconds to register what the male said before you lightly blushed and scratched the back of your {animal texture}
"it's no problem really, when i saw you walk in you looked pretty sad. It was the least i could do." You truthfully admitted. You were never one to turn down someone who was going through something.
The male smiled, holding out his hand in a sense of formal greeting. "I'm Tadano, i should be thanking you for buying my ramen."
You took his hand and gave it a small shake, smiling as well. "Name's {Y/n} and one thank you is good enough."
"Right, I'll remember that next time."

For the rest of the night, you and Tadano happily ate and chat about different topics. Turns out that he failed to get his driver's license which made you giggle uncontrollably.
"Wait wait, how did you manage to flunk your drivers test? That was like the easiest course ever!"
"I guess driving wasn't really my jam."
You took a forkfull of ramen and casually ate some since you had been talking for most of the time. Tadano doing the same. "Mmm this place is amazing! Whenever I'm craving this stuff Hokkaido is always my go to."
"So that tells me you're not from around here huh?" His eyes shifted to a different shade which kinda surprised you. "You... could say that."
Tadano's gaze moved to the book that rested next to your bowl, catching his interest. "I take it that you like to read?" His comment made you blush and carefully pick up the book, running your {paw/fin/wing} over the spine. "Yeah... I'm a bookworm if that's what you want to call it."
The two of you finished your ramen and stacked your empty bowls for the waitress to take. You gave a yawn and slumped a little in your seat.
"Sorry about that Tadano, work has been draining my life source lately." He did the weird eye thing again and his expression went wide.
"Ohh you have a job. Haha no wonder you look so tired." You leaned against the table with your arm propped up on your cheek. "Is it noticeable? I work at the small grocery store couple blocks down. It's a stressful job but pays somewhat good."
You watch the purple donkey send a message on his phone before returning his attention back on you.
"What about you? Got a job?" Tadano looked shocked by your question but still provided an answer while scratching the back of his head. "Sorta. I'm still working things out. It'll take some time."
You chuckled a bit and sat back with your arms crossed over your chest, gazing somewhere else. "If you want, i can get you a job at my place. We're short staffed and need employees."
"Thanks for the offer {Y/n}, I'll give it some thought."
With that you stood up from your seat and gathered your things placing a tip on the table. Before you could walk out the door, Tadano gently put his hand on your shoulder and ushered you to wait. "W-Want me to walk you out?"
