Chapter One

This town fucking sucks.
Dad gets caught with his pants down and the new post secretary between his legs at the Sheriff station; Mom put in a transfer to anywhere but Sacramento.  Then next thing I know, we are on our way to Charming. You would have thought that with Dad having two kids and being married to Mom for 20 years, he would have been smarter than this.
Wishful thinking.
I hate this town, I've only been here for three days and I'm bored out of my mind.  Instead of staring at the ceiling any longer, I decided that a walk would do some good. There was an ice cream parlor on our way to our new house that I saw earlier in the day. The only good thing about the move is that I actually really love the house. Mom said that she would let me do my thing with interior decorating as long as I stayed away from the neon.
I started with my bedroom. I figured I'd leave my sisters room alone and help her if she asked. Speaking of Step...

"STEPHAINIE!!! I'm running into town real quick!" I yelled as I headed down the stairs. Stephanie can't really have dairy without it causing any problems as she frequently tells me. With that being said, I didn't feel bad about going to get ice cream without her.

I put music on shuffle and started walking into town. It only took about 15 minutes to reach the ice cream parlor. With all the walking in addition to the humidity, the back of my neck had gotten sticky so I bent over to put my hair up and get some relief. As I was trying to manage my thick mane, I heard motorcycles coming from up the street. I had always wanted one but with both of my folks being in law enforcement, a 16 year old and a bike was a complete no- go.  I stood up as the bikes went by. There were five guys that happen to stop right in front of the parlor. Sweet & Scoops is what the front sign said. As I walked to open the door, one of the guys took off his helmet and opened it for me.

"Here you go, Darlin'" he said.
I froze.
He was the most beautiful man that I had ever seen in my life. Crystal clear blue eyes, muscle in all the right places but not too overbearing, a really nice smile and dirty blonde hair. He was beautiful.

"Thanks" I said as I walked by him and up to the counter to try and pick out a flavor. I started to overheard the guys talking about me.

"What a nice lookin lass. I swear I haven't seen her around her before. Who is that Jackie?"

"Dude, she's got the body of a goddess! Think she'll give me her number?"

"Man, Juice you have got to get laid soon. You sound desperate as fuck.  She's looks like a sweetie though I'll give you that."

I started smirking as a guy behind the counter with fake fingers walked up and asked me if I had made a choice yet. All of the guys were walking towards the back of the shop that seemed like it headed up the stairs.

"Yeah," I replied sweetly.

"I'll take a chocolate and vanilla swirl on a cone please" The blonde guy turned around and smirked at me. I smiled right back at him and turn my attention back to the clerk waiting on me to pay for my ice cream.

"Hey, Chuckie, that cone is on the house," the handsome blonde said, leaning against the wall by the stairwell.

"That's okay! I can pay for my own but thank you," I say smiling at him.

"It's alright Darlin', I gothca this time." He says, looking at me up and down as if he was just as curious about me as I was about him.

"Well...thank you. I'm Shay. Shay Parker. We just moved in about 15 minutes from here," I say holding my hand out to shake his.  A look of recognition passed across his face before he stretched his arm out to shake my hand.

"Jackson Teller, nice to meet you. So where did you move here from?"

"Sacramento. Dad screwed up, Mom couldn't deal so we basically packed up and moved here."

I don't know what it was about Jackson, but I felt a fire slowing starting to burn within me. I didn't know if that was a good or bad thing. A dangerous thing. I finally took in a moment to actually look at him. The scruffy look looked good on him. I noticed that he was wearing a leather cut with a Sons of Anarchy patch and underneath it, his position of Vice President sat proudly.

"Your mom's a sheriff right?"

I automatically looked down, embarrassed. I hated the fact that both of my parents had anything to do with law enforcement. That's why I only had a few friends back home. Everyone always thought I would snitch on them. That I was miss perfect who would go running to Mommy and Daddy anytime someone as much as lit a cigarette. I knew once I let Jackson know that we were related, he would secretly start to judge me.

"Um yes, both my folks are."

I looked up out of the window and notice that its gotten a few shades darker than when I had originally left the house.

"Well it was nice meeting you. I really should get going, its getting really dark out."

"Do you want me to give you a ride?" he asked me as he cracked a smile. I felt my face light up with excitement. I had never been on an bike before but the want to get on one was still very present.

"Really?! You would!? Oh...well I'd love to but my mom would probably kill me."

"That's okay, hand me your phone." I gave him my iPhone as I assumed he saved his number and then I heard his own phone ring.

"Now you have my number when you do want to go on a ride. I saw how your face lit up." He handed me my phone back and kissed the side of my head.

"When you want to rebel a little bit, give me a call. Text me when you get home safe, Beautiful." Jackson turned around and headed back upstairs, with a little swagger in his hips.

I headed out of the shop, saying goodbye to Chuckie. Thinking about what just happened with Jackson, maybe this town won't be so bad after all.
