Well that took longer than I thought it would. Jerome wasn't in school the next day after he had called me. It was a week before I had heard anything about him at all. The assistant principal came over the PA system fifteen minutes before the last bell was going to ring. She announced that Jerome was in the hospital suffering from a medically induced coma and that there would be counselors at school on Monday for the students to talk to if need be. Jesus Christ! I knew whatever Jax was going to do to him was going to be bad, I thought as I drove home. I saw that Jax had left a note on the kitchen counter.
Have no idea when I'll be back,
Don't worry about dinner.
Jax.
He had been on a run for a few days but apparently he was back. I didn't have anything school related to do but I did have to be at the garage in a half hour. I took a shower and made my way to Teller-Morrow. I walked in the office looking for Gemma and she was nowhere to be found so I hopped right into the work that needed to be done. It was about ten at night before I headed into the garage and spotted Half Sac. He had sort of become my best friend since I started working at the shop, with him always being here and prospecting for the club, since he already knew what was going on with club stuff, we talked about pretty much everything.
"Half Sac! Where was Gemma today?" I asked him. He looked down, conflicted.
"She was down at the sheriff's station with Clay. She took a skateboard to a girl named Cherry's face."
"Unlucky girl."
"Yeah well, she wasn't' suppose to be here..." he told me quietly.
"What happened?"
"Clay hooked up with her on our last run. She wasn't suppose to come anywhere around here. I wouldn't be surprised if Clay's down at the Cara Cara release party getting his nuts massaged." What release party?
"Oh...is that where the rest of the guys are?"
"Yeah they should be, I got stuck closing the shop tonight. I'm gonna head over there after I clean up though."
"I think I'll make an appearance too. It's Friday night after all." I told him and head to the clubhouse to change. I threw on a white lace crop top, to show off my crow, dark blue skinny jeans and white high-top air forces. I decided to throw my hair back in a bun just incase I got into it with Ima. Speaking of Ima, I called Jax, while I was walking out to my truck to see where he was at but he didn't answer. Seriously? He's been gone for five days, gets back and heads straight to Cara Cara? I had a bad feeling in my gut that Jax was at that fucking party, that he didn't tell me about or even bother to invite me, getting into shit that he shouldn't be getting in to. Dick move Teller. I pulled up to Cara Cara right after Half Sac pulled in the lot. The party was in full swing, I could hear the music blaring and just about everyone's bike was there, including Jax's. I ran to catch up with Half Sac. He opened the door for me and let me walk in front of him. Jesus Christ. There were half naked women all over the goddamn place. A TV that took up the whole opposite wall was playing the film I assumed that was just released. I headed over to the pool table to rack up the balls just to get my mind of what Jax was doing here. Half Sac came over with a beer and cranberry and vodka, he handed me my signature drink, and I took a swig.
"Best two out of three?" he asked pointing towards the table.
"Can we just play for fun? I just wanna get my mind off of some shit..."
"Whatever you want to do Shay. I kind of need to get my mind off of shit too," he said. I smiled at him. Half Sac was one of the youngest members of the club but still older than me by a few years.
