Say You Love Me - Chapter 19

Rise and shine I thought as I woke up and got dressed. After I had grabbed a banana from the counter, and headed to get Steph to head to the festival to help set up. We pulled in the parking lot and headed over to find Gemma. Steph saw her walking around putting money in cash registers.

"Miss Gemma!," Steph yelled.

Gemma turned around and smiled at us.

"Hey Girls! You here early to help set up?"

"Yeah we are, where do you need us?" I asked.

"Steph, can you go over and help the other ladies set up the Christmas games? Shay, you can go grab the cups and other shit from the truck and set it out under the food tent? Oh, there are a bunch of drinks that need to be put in the ice buckets too. Everything else is pretty much self-explanatory," Gemma explained.

Steph took off towards the games and I went to unload Gemma's truck, she had it filled pretty much to the ceiling. I had everything set up under the food tent within two hours, which was good timing because people had just started pulling in. The only thing I didn't like about Christmas in California was the fact that we never had any snow. I'd have to plan a vacation to somewhere with snow next Christmas.
Stephanie had found some kids to hang out with from school so she took off with them. I stayed in the food tent and handed out treats. The sheriffs department had a booth set up as well. From what it looked like, they were handing out goody bags with coloring books. I was pretty sure that my mother would make an appearance later. Gemma was in good sprits and the festival was in full swing by the time the club showed up. I walked over to Jax and met him as he was getting off of his bike.

"Your mom is like a queen around here," I told him with a kiss.

"Mom loves shit like this Babe," he told me as he took my hand and led me towards where Gemma was.

"Hey Mom, you need our help with anything?" Jax asked.

"Steph and Shay helped we out. We are good. You two go have fun." Gemma told us.

"You wanna go for a ride babe?"

"Where are we going?"

"It's a surprise. We won't be gone long."

"Alright, I need to find Steph and let her know."

I turned around and scanned the crowd. I saw that my mother had showed up and was talking to Steph. I headed over to them.

"Steph will you be alright for a few? I'm going on a ride, I'll be back in a while," I asked her.

"You going with Jax?" Brenda asked.

"Yeah, that's where she's going Ma. I'll be fine Shay. Thanks for bringing me with you. I'll go home with Ma," Steph told me. I hugged her and kissed her forehead.

"Glad you had fun, Little One."  I gave Brenda a nod and headed back to Jax's bike. We road out to the nearest lake, it was beautiful out here, and really quiet. Jax helped me off of his bike and led me to the lake, then laid a blanket down and pulled down to cuddle with him.

"Jax, what's going on? You pulled me away from Gemma's festival and she let me go without a fight. Something is up." I told him with a concerned look on my face. He took a deep breath before he spoke up.

"Everything is fine Shay. I brought you out here because I needed to ask you something and I didn't want to ask you around anyone because there's a hundred different reasons why you would and probably should shut me completely down. I thought I'd just go for it and ask you anyway," Jax said as he pulled away from me and sat legs crossed in front of me. He pulled a jewelry box out of his pocket and opened it. My heart stopped and I froze as I looked inside of the box he held in his hand. There was a white gold princess cut diamond ring along with a matching band that had smaller diamonds around it.
"I know that I fucked up, I know that you are probably too young for me, I know that life with the club is probably not what you saw yourself being involved in, but I also know that I love you very much and I've never felt this away about any other woman in my entire life.
I wanted to know if you would do me the honor of being my wife because I can't even imagine a day without you," Jax asked.
