Isabel's POV
————
THE LAST CLASS of today was DADA (defense against the dark arts) and I was not happy about it. Me and Sasha were walking to class together. "You ready for Professor Umbridge?" Sasha mumbled in annoyance. "The question should really be like, is Professor Umbridge ready for me?" I smirked at Sasha and she gave me a grin. She shook her head then said, "Do whatever you want, just don't hurt yourself."I found a seat next to Hermione and tried to catch up with her before the teacher walks in. "So, how was your first day?" She asked me. "Nothing much." I shrugged my shoulders. It was the truth, nothing really happened today. Only a few minutes later, the pink balloon came walking in with a grin, an evil grin.
"O, W, L, also known as Ordinary Wizarding Levels are examinations 5th years will take at Hogwarts. Since it's just a simple test, you're not going to need you wand." Professor Umbridge said, matter-of-factly. "But this class is Defense Against The Dark Arts, we need to use our wand to learn how to defend ourselves." Harry blurted out. She laughed absurdly, then asked him "Who would want to hurt kids like you lot?"
"I don't know, maybe Voldemort?" He said angrily. People gasped and started whispering to each other. I gave Hermione a quick little grin and whispered, "Potter sure likes to speak his mind." She rolled her eyes at me but I knew she knew it was the truth. "He's not coming back, he's gone!" Umbridge said, getting angry. I got so infuriated with this woman, how could she just say that? So, I pulled a Potter and said what needed to be said.
"Then explain Cedric Diggory's death last year, you fool!" I yelled out loud. Everybody looked towards my direction, including Draco who gave me a smirk. "His death was an accident. Detention for you and Potter after class in my office!" The bubblegum bubble said, clearing her throat. I fixed my position in my stool and just smiled evilly at Professor Umbridge. It was absolutely hilarious seeing her get mad so easily. I noticed Sasha staring at me worriedly and I gave her a look that just said, "I'll be fine."
Soon class was finished and yet I still had another "class" to go to. But I wasn't going to complain about it, because I technically caused it. "You excited?" Harry asked me sarcastically. I started laughing, but then answered his question with, "Obviously!" We continued walking for another few seconds until I said honestly, "I don't know why she pissed me off so much. I just kinda had a bad vibe from her." Harry nodded, trying to say he felt the same way.
We finally got to her office and sat down in front of her. "Well, for detention we'll be writing sentences. Harry, you will write I must not tell a lie. Isabel, you will write I won't insult the teacher in class." Umbridge said, giving them quills and a piece of paper. "How many times do we need to write it?" Harry asked. "Until the message sinks in." She said giving us devilish smile. It was disturbing how her eyes were filled with raging anger, but yet she seemed so calm.
I was about to start writing, until I noticed there wasn't any ink. "Where's the ink?" I asked, trying to look around the room to see if there's any. "Oh, you don't need it." She said, staring at me intensely. I slowly looked away from her and stared writing.
I won't insult the teacher in class anymore.
Suddenly, I felt an aching pain on my opposite hand. I looked over at Harry, and I saw the terror in his eyes as he stared at his hand. The line he wrote on paper was carved in his skin! He whimpered quietly, and I tried comforting him but I felt the same pain he was feeling and let out an accidental sob. My line was carved into my hand too, and blood dripped slowly.
"Yes?" Me and Harry looked up to see Umbridge staring at us, waiting for an answer. "Nothing.." Harry responded hesitantly. "Right because both of you know, deep down you deserve to be punished." She said, staring right into our souls. I wanted to say something but I couldn't, how could someone be this horrible to a student? "Continue writing." She demanded us, irritated.
I slowly started writing with my quill again.
I won't insult the teacher in class anymore.
I won't insult the teacher in class anymore.
I won't insult the teacher in class anymore.
I won't insult the teacher in class anymore.I don't know why, but I felt the sudden urge to just keep writing and writing. So what if it hurt? You're actually so weak Isabel, nobody likes it when you pretend you're so bold but all you are is weak. Weak, weak, weak-
"I think that's quite enough Miss Coves. You may leave now." She said, ushering me out the door. I realized that tears were practically flowing down my face, and my paper was stained with salty tears. I looked at my hand hesitantly and saw how bloody it was. I saw the apologetic look on Harry's face and I gave him a face that said, "I'm fine." But I knew inside I really wasn't.
I shook my head and tried to hide it with a smile. I walked out the door and quickly headed to the Slytherin house.
Draco's POV
————
I was laughing with Crabbe and Goyle about a first year who puked purple stuff in the hallway. "You should've seen the look on his face-" Everyone's attention turned to Isabel who just came rushing in with tears running down her face. The excitement in my eyes suddenly turned to worry when I saw Isabel hurting. "Isabel, are you okay?" I asked, walking towards her. "I need some space, Malfoy." She mumbled without looking at me, continuing to rush to her dorm. I stood there awkwardly just staring at her walk off, until I hear Blaise tell me "Go check on her! Merlin, you are incredibly dumb."Everyone started laughing as I walked to her dorm in annoyance.
I knocked on the door and Sasha, her friend opened it giving me a death stare. "Did you do this to her?" She asked me curiously, pointing at Isabel who was sitting on the couch sobbing. I shook my head quickly and replied, "N-no, I just wanted to see if she was okay." Sasha rolled her eyes at me, then said "Alright, talk to her lover boy."
I cringed slightly when she said those last two words but I tried to ignore it and focus on Isabel. I sat on the opposite end of the couch from her and stared at her awkwardly. She finally noticed I was there and stared back at me with an eyebrow raised up. "What do you want Draco?" She looked at me tiredly. "I was just seeing if you were okay." I replied. Before she could respond, I saw some red marks on her hand and my eyes widened looking at it. Who hurt Isabel and made her bleed?
"What did Umbridge do to you?" I asked, finally realizing what was happening. Isabel shook her head and said, "Nothing." She looked the opposite direction and tried to ignore me. I grabbed her hand gently and observed the words on it. There were 4 lines and they all said "I won't insult the teacher in class anymore."
"Why would you let her do this to yourself?" I asked Isabel apologetically. "I.. don't know." Is all she said. I was expecting her to let go of my hand and ignore me again, but she did the exact opposite. She tightened her grip on my hand and looked at me with a small smile. "Thanks for checking in on me." She said.
"You're welcome Coves." I returned the smile and let go of her hand. As soon as I did, I wanted to hold it again just to feel her warm hand against mine but I knew I couldn't do that. As I walked out of the dorm, I couldn't help but slightly blush but I quickly made it go away, so no one would see me.
that was another big chapter (oops)! if you guys haven't noticed already, i changed it from leila to isabel because i felt like that was more of a proper name for her. so, i'm really sorry if you liked the name leila but i decided to change it. anyways, draco and isabel had some time together and i thought it was rlly cute!! idk if i'm rushing this or not but tell me if i am <3
