Stacey entered the room where Tiffany's lifeless body laid still. She hated to see Tiffany like that and she could not do anything about it. It tore her up inside and she felt guilt come over her.
She wished she paid more attention to her friend then none of this would have happened. Tiffany's room was very cold the whole hospital felt cold like there was death in the air. She sat in the chair next to tiffany's bed and looked around the room. It was a small room but it was at least clean. There were 3 monitor screens in the room and they were beeping the whole time. Stacey tried to figure out which one was witch since she only saw such stuff on television.
Tiffany skin looks pale and she had bandages wrapped around her head and other parts of her body. She had a lot of pipes attached to her arm and there was even one in her mouth. Stacey figured it was there to help her friend breathe. The doctor entered a few minutes later and Stacey stood up and walked towards him.
He politely greeted her and then turn to the board that was in his hand. He made some scribbles on it and looked at the monitors again. Making notes as he checked every machine in the room. Stacey's grew impatient it was frustrating how the whole system worked but before she stormed over to the doctor he began speaking.
He told her that there was no change, that Tiffany is a strong woman and for now she is okay not to say that she's out of the woods yet but stable. Stacey sat back down and relaxed because she felt like her nerves have been put at ease. The beeper in the doctor's jacket went off and while he checked it he told her that she should get some rest and he will come back in an hour or so to check Tiffany again. She nodded in agreement and he then left the room. Stacey took Tiffany's hand in hers and started to sing a song. When she was finished she sat back and read a magazine that was on the counter. An hour later her eyes felt heavy and she was tired she decided to rest her eyes for a few moments but then drifted off in a deep slumber.
As time passed she couldn't get a comfortable position to sleep in and woke up feeling irritated and her body ached. She looked at Tiffany seeing that nothing has changed since the doctor was here last well at least it looked that way.
She stood up and gave Tiffany a kiss on the forehead whispering in her ear that she just going to the bathroom she will be back shortly. She was on her way out of the room when all the machines started making a racket. Stacey's head spun around looking at Tiffany and she rushed over to her bed screaming for a nurse or doctor. Tiffany's body started to jerk and Stacey was frantic, not sure what was going on or what she needed to do but she tried to hold tiffany so that she did not fall off the bed or hurt herself.
Everything happened so fast next. It felt to her she was an actress in one of those movie scenes. It felt like time stood still and everything was in slow motion. She could see the nurses and doctors rushing in but at that point, everything was so loud that she could see but she could not make out a sound. They were checking the machines and one of the nurses instructed her to leave the room she tried to fight so that she could stay but they dragged her out the room. She stood in the hallway just staring at the room door that was closed.
Tears starting forming and rolled down her cheeks, her knees gave in from under her and she just sat there and cried. The image of Tiffany kept replaying in her mind. After an hour she stood up when she heard the door open and ran towards the doctor that was coming down the hallway towards her He looked at her and began to explain what happened. He said that Tiffany had a setback one of her lungs collapsed and her heart stopped. Stacey stared at the doctor with wide eyes she couldn't believe the words that came out his mouth.
She died, No, No, No, No Stacey repeated over and over and the tears were rolling down her face. Feeling like her heart just broke into a million pieces. Her body was numb and she could not feel anything. She was in shock. The doctor spoke to her but her mind was so far away from processing still that Tiffany was gone.
The doctor shook Stacey out of her state and looked at her. Please say something? Can you hear me the doctor asked concerned? Are you okay miss?
She managed to shake her head and muttered out a Yes. He then continued to ask her if she heard what he said? but Stacey shook her head please stop my friend is gone and she burst out crying. The doctor comforted her but then tried to tell her again hoping that this time it will register in her mind.
Your friend is very much alive, we manage to revive her heart again and she is one strong person.
Stacey looked up and blinked her eyes, She's alive she hugged the doctor but the doctor pushed her away stating that it wasn't necessary he was only doing his job.
He was hoping that Tiffany's swelling on her brain would subside but so far no changes and that did not look good. He then told Stacey she need can go get her a coffee or something to drink while they do some further tests.
She took the lift down to the cafeteria to go get a soda or coffee. She took a detour and walked through the maternity ward. She went to go stand at the window where all the new mothers can look at their babies. They look so cute in their crib she thought no care in the world. After spending a few minutes there just staring she made her way down the hall and saw a big sign that stated Chapel. She walked into the room and looked around but there was no one, there were candles lit in the room and so she decided to go say a prayer and light a candle.
After her prayer she was heading towards the exit when she bumped into something hard, she stumbled backward to her surprise it was a guy but he was tall and hard as a rock. What the hell Stacey thought She could not see much as the room was lit only with candles but he was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans ad he was built well like someone that either worked on the construction sites or he must work out a lot. He was wearing a cap and shades.
Please watch where you walking miss the stranger pointed at her.
What excuse me and an angry frown started to form on Stacey's face.
You heard me the stranger said. Now run along and get out my way.
Stacey's face turned a shade red as her anger started to show but she decided he was a rude brut looking for an argument so she stormed out the chapel without looking back.
She took the lift and went to go get a coffee and to calm down. Men, she thought what has this world come to.
