Chapter 18: The Great Magic War

Suspense drew its line between Ishgar's remaining resistance and Ankhseram's obscure army, Mavis paved her way through the crowd along with Zeref to confront their mightiest foe ever.

Mavis: Ankhseram...

Zeref: We meet at last...

Ankhseram: Ahh, the White Fairy and the Black Spriggan..the two cursed with the Curse of Contradictions and the two who've also defied my law...

Mavis: We've only used Black Magic to try and save our loved ones, for sure that isn't a sin..

Zeref: Listen to her, Ankhseram. I tried resurrecting Natsu with Black Magic and it worked finally! He was the only family I had left before I met Mavis..

Natsu: Zeref...

Zeref: So please, we ask of you...

Mavis: Remove us of this curse so we can live freely and mortally as humans after 400 years...

Ankhseram: ...How courageous of you to ask of me, the god of life and death to liberate you fo my curse, I respect that...but the answer is no!

Lucy: What!? That's not fair! Mavis and Zeref deserve a second chance! They didn't do anything wrong! They wanted to save their family! Why can't you acknowledge that!?

Ankhseram: There is a balance between life and death that needs to be preserved correctly, but for those who break that balance shall receive divine punishment!!

Ankhseram's staff glowed a lilac light and the light soon consumed Mavis and Zeref levitating them off of the ground bringing them closer to Ankhseram.

Mavis: Uwah! Ahh!

Zeref: Dah!

Lucy: Mavis!

Makarov: First Master!

Natsu: Zeref!! Let them go!!

Mavis and Zeref struggled against Ankhseram's force as he brought them even closer to him.

Ankhseram: Know this! For those who defy my reign shall be punished as I see fit!

Ankhseram proceeded as his skeletal hand waved about conjuring a magical aura used to extract Mavis and Zeref's magic away from them making them wringing in pain and agony as their very Ethernano and energy were being taken away.

Mavis: AGHHHHH!!!

Zeref: AGGHHHHH!!

Lucy: Stop it! STOP IT!!

Mavis' Fairy Heart and Zeref's Death Magic were stolen by Ankhseram's cruel hand as light and darkness shrouded his hand almost completing the extraction, this extraction was even faster compared to Wendy and Irene's Extraction Enchantment: Deus Zero. As Ankhseram almost completely absorbed and drained the two blights in front of him, Mavis and Zeref laid quiet as their essence left their bodies. Everyone watched helplessly in fear and shock as Ankhseram completed his extraction.

Ankhseram: Ahh...the light of a Fairy and the darkness of a Spriggan..just what I needed!

The Fairy Heart and Death Magic swirled around Ankhseram as it coated his robes and deceased body with patches of light and darkness, making his appearance coloured half white and half black. With that done, Mavis and Zeref soon dropped to the ground weakened and robbed as they accelerated like dead flies to the ground. Only to be caught safely by Natsu and Lucy who landed in their arms.

Lucy's eyes overwhelmed with tears as she saw her friend painfully extracted of Fairy Heart and Natsu felt anger as his dear brother was the same with Mavis. Lucy's hands and teeth tightened as her sorrow formed into anger.
