I was extremely nervous. The babysitter was here, the kids were in bed, and I was dressed nicer than I had since before I became a mother. My (H/L) (H/C) hair was let down, makeup carefully done, and had I had put on my nicest dress (pictured below). But that didn't erase the fact that I was about to go on a date with the most notorious demon in all of Hell.
Exactly at eight, Alastor was knocking at my door. I opened it to find the radio demon standing there with his Cheshire grin. Oddly enough, I found it rather charming.
"Are you ready, my dear?" He asked. I nodded, stepping out and shutting the door behind me.
"You look absolutely beautiful this evening." Alastor complimented me as he led me to the town car waiting for us. We got in and the driver pulled away.
It turned out that Alastor had a private table ready for us at a quiet, upscale sushi place. Judging from the decor, the bill would wind up being what my paycheck was worth.
"I'm sorry," I finally felt like I could speak without my voice shaking, "But why did you ask me out."
Alastor grinned at me as he pulled out my chair, "Can I not ask a beautiful woman out on a date?" I raised an eyebrow as I sat down. If he could afford dates like this, then he should be dating models, not a waitress.
"You're a hard worker," Alastor commented, "I like that in a person. Besides, it takes a certain kind of person who can deal with rude customers and not spit in their coffee."
"And how do you know I don't spit in an assholes' coffee?" I asked, giving him a small smile of my own.
"I just have a feeling," He replied, leaning back in his seat.
Dinner was actually enjoyable. For evil incarnate, Alastor was quite an interesting person to talk to. And he was an absolute gentleman. We dined on the best sushi I had eaten, dead or alive. To be honest, I didn't want the night to end.
Right around midnight, Alastor was walking me to my door. He had offered me his jacket, placing it around my shoulders like you saw men do in the sappy old school romantic movies.
"I suppose I should give this back to you." I said, starting to take his jacket off.
"I'll get it next time," He replied, laying a hand over mine, "I'm hoping there is a next time?" He said it like a question. I looked up into his crimson gaze, now unafraid.
"I'd like that," I smiled up at him, a blush creeping over my cheeks. We stared at each other for a moment before Alastor took a step closer. I closed my eyes as he leaned down to brush his lips across mine. He tasted like the sake he drank earlier tonight. I leaned into the kiss, savoring the contact. It was so simple...so uncomplicated...so perfect.
I was kissing the Radio Demon.
