M i s j u d g e d || Chapter One
"Breath-taking. The rich, golden sun was raised high into the sky, contrasting with the warm colours. Slowly, and steadily, bringing light onto the land. The sweet sounds of the creatures awakening, starting their new day, with calls of joy.
The serenity was beyond compare.
The soothing winds join the act and gracefully release a cooling breeze, cooling the hearts of those who need it. The glorious scent of various trees and plants filled the air, a great distraction from all the evil and wrong-doings.
As seconds passed by, the scenery blooms into paradise. The chirping of the birds, to the rustling of the leaves, the sounds of nature, will forever be divine.
Hidden deep in the paradise, lies a crystal-like, sapphire-coloured oasis, showing off its smooth and silky texture, sparkling under the giant torch. The oasis was replenishing and could feed the famish in one sip.
As minutes passed by, Mother Nature decides to add a twist to the plot. Slowly, and steadily, banging of drums could be heard from miles away. A terrifying rhythm, given to cue the dull, grey, thick clouds to roll in. The word 'mercy' didn't exist as beams of electric blue lightning struck the ground. The screeches and cries of the endangered species screamed for help as the banging of the drums grew louder and louder, soon, muffling the sounds of the animals.
The golden sun vanished behind the puffs of cloud, illuminating the once paradise. No ray of light could be seen over the heavy, damp, atmosphere. The taste of danger hung in the air. Bitter, and sour. A pungent smell overpowered and covered the atmosphere, choking and strangling you.
A faint shadow of flying creatures could be seen overhead, flapping around, searching for a way out. Out of this horrid place and out of this horrid world. No sign of peace and calamity could be heard or seen.
A dark, obsidian coloured smog decided to make an entrance on the stage, completely vanquishing the scenery. Blindfolding what little good was left, to meet with the dark.
As hours passed by, the punishment was unbearable, and the outcome was horrendous. Tall trees that overlooked the land like a guardian angel, were no more. They lay flat on the ground, defeated. The silence was deafening, as the sound of the creatures could no longer be heard.
Gone.
The sky was covered in a dirty, smeared, black colour, as the oasis was no longer sparkly but instead, a moss green colour, covered with fallen branches, rocks, soil and fallen leaves.The taste of dust was everywhere, hunger and thirst being an issue.
The storm had unleashed its anger and walked away, never once looking back at the damage it had caused, in the battle of freedom."
A loud round of applause caused me to jerk my head up to stare at the twenty to thirty pairs of eyes all staring at me, wide eyed.
"Amazing. Absolutely amazing, Nor. That, that was, just brilliant." Mr. Grayson grinned, applauding me unnecessarily. Clasping the sheet of A4 paper tightly in my hands, I made my way back to my seat in the front row, and sat down with my head hung low, fumbling with my fingers.
I didn't like this. I didn't like being the centre of attention. Can they please look away now?
The bell rang not long after Mr. Grayson dismissed us. English, along with Art were my favourite subjects. They were the only two subjects in which I could freely express myself, and not be judged.
As I slowly packed my books away, listening to the gentle rhythmic thuds of my classmates' footsteps walking out the classroom, I let out a sigh of relief. Phew. The spotlights were no longer on me.
