*this is a major time skip since i wanted the first chapter to be more calm*

I sighed as we all rode back to the survey corps headquarters. there were many casualties like there was on that fateful day when i lost my memories.

I sat in the cart with Eren and Armin making sure to keep my (well technically Reiners) hood up.

"we're nearly there, we can both talk to Erwin after the bonfire." Armin suggested and I shook my head.

"sorry Armin but I will need to do it as soon as possible. my duty as one of the higher ups is that I must be upfront about everything." I stated and he nodded.

Armin tilted his head as he placed his mouth close to my ear in secrecy "y/n a lot's changed since your disappearance, what if you can't remember anything else?"

I moved away with a knowing smile, he wants to know if i think I'm capable to continue my work without my memories.

"I remember my training, i just don't remember events. I will be fine." I concluded as the wagon came to a stop. I hopped out of the cart and helped some people to the infirmary, I was amazed by how much i remember of the HQ even after the amnesia.

I then headed straight to the commanders office. I paused, tears slowly formed in my eyes at the small memories that came back. meetings, coffee discussions and my last time with him when we were discussing Levi. I rubbed my eyes and got ready to knock.

"hey brat what are you doing?" a shock ran through my spine. that voice.

flashback

I sighed as we transported the trio from the underground. the ravenette was struggling in Mikes hold.

"let us go we're not joining your fucking suicide mission!" i walked over and looked into his eyes."tch what're you looking at brat?"

"I've seen your type before." he furrowed his brows in confusion "you do what you need to survive, right? we aren't all that different only we do what we need to so that humanity survives. you aren't angry, you're afraid." i stated bluntly as I watched his eyes for a reaction.

he snarled and tried to move towards me.

"y/n don't irritate the boy."

"I am simply trying to show to him that he doesn't have to be alone sir. this situation is bigger than all of us Levi, nobody asked for the titans." and with that, i wandered to hanji.

Levi seemed a little calmer at the proclemation. well, i don't know for sure if it was calm or scheming a murder plot. but at least he's not giving Mike a hard time.

*end flashback*

"i asked you a question." he said and his hand curled around my shoulder.

I removed my hood letting my long (h/c) hair be visible to him before I turned. he was stunned into silence as he recognized my face, he took a step back letting his hand fall to his side.

"I was found outside the walls in this uniform, the soldiers recognized me and had me join them. I-I don't remember much bu-" Levi grabbed my cheek and i jumped back in surprise at the sudden contact. he sighed and knocked on the door.

"come in." he opened the door and gestured me inside with him.

"the cadets found someone beyond the walls." he said and I stepped into the light making Erwin drop his pen.

he stood up from his desk and briskly walked over to me and looking me over. he then touched my shoulder and tears welled in my eyes.

"she doesn't remember much, I don't exactly know how much she remembers." Levi said and I pulled Erwin into a hug.

I felt him tense but slowly wrap his arms around me too. He requested Levi to collect Hanji and told him not to mention me.

we parted after a minute, i chuckled softly as i wiped my tears.

"i am glad we've had this reunion y/n but i need to know what you can remember." I nodded and we sat down at his desk.

"i-i remember random meetings and having coffee with you and Hanji. I also remember the last mission i went on where i was supposed to watch over Levi Farlan and Isabel. and i remember the blood and falling. when i woke up, i had no memory of what happened."

"do you remember any of your training? anything of use?"

"I remember all of my training and meeting Levi for the first time. erm as of things that are useful I don't remember much." he nodded but smiled.

"I think with a little recap you'll be okay to fight-"

"shortcake here said you- y/n? Y/N!!" she screamed and ran over pulling me into a hug.

"I would know those beautiful (e/c) eyes from anywhere!ohoho I knew you weren't dead! you're un killable!" I chuckled as I hugged her back.

"thanks Hanji."

"what's going on?" i turned and smiled.

"mike!" he looked like a titan had just come running at him before his expression neutralized and he gave my hair a friendly sniff.

" how do you remember us?"

"how could i forget you? you all made my last memorable moments...well...memorable?"

"well, we'll have to find living quarters for you since Levi now has your former arrangements."

"she looks about petra's size." Hanji mused before looking down at her shoes. i knew immediately that it meant she's gone.

levi breathed deeply.

"well, her sleeping arrangements will do. her uniform should fit you, it's better than the filthy shit you have on." Levi said and I nodded.

"yeah, but when you have to survive without help in a world surrounded by titans, dirty clothes are the least of your worry."

"Levi, can you show her to her new quarters?" he nodded and i followed him out.

once i got to the room i changed into a plain shirt and fell onto the bed ready for sleep. I slept peacefully for the first time in years.
